I wouldn't say this is my favourite book in the Alex Rider series but it's an interesting story!
I did find the pace of Russian Roulette quite slow, most of the book was Yassen reading his own diary so it was first person instead of the usual third person for this series.
It was cool to get Yassen's life story and it offered a new perspective on decisions he's made in previous books. I particularly liked the connection with Hunter and how Yassen's life mirrors and entwines with Alex's.

Loved it. Gregorovich was such an interesting character, and when I remembered halfway through that he's already dead I got really sad. I loved the very last scene - I got out my copy of Stormbreaker, and although there a couple of lines left out, it's almost an exact replica of that scene. I thought that that was a very good way to end it, very circular. I especially like the reveal that he had in fact been sent there to kill Alex. Gonna miss this series.

It's awesome and I am happy that I have completed the whole series. The way author has described the life of Yassen in the form of a diary is amazing. It's one of my favourite books!!
First thing's first. Alex? You were terribly missed. But well your creator Anthony Horowitz sure as hell turned us readers into serial killers!! I really thank the author for such an insightful book. It was dark and beautiful. But as compared to other books in the series, I would rate it 4 stars simply because Alex wasn't there. Rest all was perfect.
Russian Roulette traces back the story of the assassin Yassen and once again portrays how criminals don't choose their occupation. Their circumstances make them. I loved the part where Yassen and Alex's dad John Rider aka Hunter, spend time with each other. Their relationship was so symbolic.
One other part that really impressed was when Scorpia employs Yassen and he trains at Malagosto. Damn that school mann!!!! Anthony Horowitz is just filled with exciting surprises! The book has the same ending as the first book in the series Stormbreaker, but of course our perceptions change this time. It was fabulous, totally! I'm honestly tired of telling people to go read the series. DM if you've read it.😂

i finally read it! the yassen book! my fav assassin!
good: we get to see his childhood in estrov, find out more ab the situation w his family, see how he ends up involved w the mafiya in moscow and then makes it to scorpia and it was just. good, man. and then we get the hunter and cossack shit we were all hoping for and the complex feelings yassen has towards the rider family and all the parallels between yassen and alex and ugh it was good
bad: we had a scene that really felt like it was gonna connect to malta and idk if it's bc we got yassen telling alex ab malta and then like. 3 other povs of what happened in malta that horowitz didn't include it (also i do get the point on ending on yassen's first kills as it pertains to the initial ending of alex's story in scorpia rising ending on alex's first cold blooded kill as another tie between them - yassen's functioning as a beginning and alex's as an ending) but i just really felt like after seeing the relationship between hunter and cossack develop i really wanted to see how it went down from yassen's in the moment pov
