This entire series is a joy to read. I have long been a Sherlock Holmes fan - books and screen adaptations - but THESE are the Sherlock mysteries that I wish I had been able to read as a young girl.

I enjoyed this, as it's a fun series and I like the premise, the characters and the author, but it really felt like half a book. Also I feel like things that were cute quirks early on in the series are becoming repetitive one-note bits. Like we get it, Charlotte likes ugly frilly clothes and desserts. We're on book 6, we do not need this repeated every other paragraph.

The entire climax of the book was presented in a unique way, and while I understand the reasoning, I didn't particularly like it.
SpoilerObviously, the whole thing was a set-up. There was no chance the Holmes was dead, and so it felt like it went on a bit too long. I don't care about Delacy and don't want to spend the entire climax in his POV. And there wasn't all that neat of a "how did they do it?!" aspect because like it was very straightforward (the detail about the cave exit being the only real missing piece).

Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment since apparently it will have the resolution this one lacked...

Love Charlotte Holmes!! Her having to interact with Moriarty and his daughter had me on the edge of my seat! Also love Kate Reading

I found the most of the plot to be a bit tedious and boring. I think it went into too many details, which were uninteresting. The ending was good and exciting. I like when it plays out one way from one point of view and then it goes back and shows the other point of view.

This installment of Lady Sherlock totally lost me for a while. Admittedly this was partially my fault, since I started it, then started (or finished) a few other books while still reading it here and there. But the stakes in the novel felt off-balance. We know Charlotte and Co. are not going to be killed by Moriarty and his henchmen, so the fear for their lives as they try to uncover the condition of Moriarty's daughter rings hollow. Much of the book felt like distraction until the actual plot developments in the last few chapters. That said! The characters were as fun as ever, especially Charlotte and Lord Ingram's unfolding romance.

My timing is excellent: I finished book 6 the same week that book 7 was published! Sadly the library holds are 3 months long. I should have jumped on the hold list sooner, as I will have inevitably forgotten all the complex plotting once the book finally hits my account....

I love the development of these characters, especially Ash.
