Normally I love Kenyon's books so when I saw that she's tried her hand at a M/M romance I was super excited to dive in. Sadly, this one fell totally flat in sooo many ways.

First off, it's the shortest book in the entire series and it only even reaches the length it does because of the three chapters of another book at the end. Huge indication about how much she truly struggled to write two gay men.

Second, I don't think she's ever met a gay man in real life and has only encountered them in overly dramatized shows where the gay man's personality is super flamboyant and that's all the depth there is to them. BOTH characters are written super feminine which just rubbed me the wrong way. Just like straight men, gay men come in all types so to only see one, super stereotyped version in a book with two gay men in it just made me angry, frankly. Mari's personality is fun in other books, but once you learn his past it just doesn't match up or make sense how he acts.

Third, tell me you've never had a*** without telling me. Like, come on Kenyon, at least make the sex make sense. Some mention of prep would have made these scenes so much better instead of treating it just like straight sex. Or at least mention lube because it's cringe reading it as written!

Lastly, all the drama in this one seems so forced. I loved delving deeper into Mari's race and their intricacies, but having him be the main target for everything just doesn't make sense. It makes it seem like every part of this book was an after thought that was hastily squeezed in so to not disrupt later books.

I was hoping for so much more from this and was left let down by Kenyon for the first time. I'd recommend so many of her books without any hesitation, but this one is not at all one of them.

When I am reading a mystery that I really like, I hurry up and finish it in one sitting because I can't wait to find out what happens next. But when I really get into a romance, it takes me twice as long as usual to finish because I keep going back and re-reading passages because I want to savor the feeling over and over. This was one of those kind of books.

I enjoyed this book, I'm a big fan of the [a:Sherrilyn Kenyon|4430|Sherrilyn Kenyon|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1343159156p2/4430.jpg], and her League series. I loved that these two got there own book. Maris and Ture are a really good match for each other. The way that Maris and Ture communicate with each other is so cute, there communication is one of the ways Sherrilyn adds life to her characters in this book. It is a short read, so the plot and relationship does move quicker then normal novels. I didn't feel that it brought the plot down to much. I think over all it's a nice quick read, and a good addition to the League series.

Now all I have to do is wait for [bc:Born of Fury|13079147|Born of Fury (The League, #7)|Sherrilyn Kenyon|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1342763529s/13079147.jpg|18246737] to come out!

I adored this book! Marius has been one of my favorites since Born of Shadows and I was so happy he finally found something worthy of him. Ture is perfect for him and his love for Darling, despite the strain he puts on their relationship, is admirable! Another Sherrilyn Kenyon win!

Ummm was I the only one that was disappointed??? I seriously could not get into this book. It didn't measure up to Kenyon's past work or at least it didn't to me.

This was the first non-straight McQueen book I've read. It has two male main characters but it still somehow felt very straight. It was cute but I wanted more from it.

This was different from the other League book as it didn't have the in depth politics and torture that the other books have. It is slightly under 200 pages and mainly the romance/story of Maris and moving on from what he cannot have, Darling. I like Ture and Maris and the trust issues they have to overcome.

It kills me to give this only three stars...

compared to other league novels this one felt short and rushed, probably because it was. The physical romance parts was glossed over, which annoyed me. These books have never shied away from sex scenes, but this one did because of the MM issue.

Maris' character was great as usual, and the extra back story we got was great but I felt like Ture was not fully developed as a character.

Honestly, I liked the story itself but it read more like a mid-series novella than a stand alone book. Nyk and Darling's books were longer, with more fanfare, more drama, etc. I just feel like Maris got jipped a bit.... however, he is still Maris and I love him! Even more now.
