This was more of a 2.5 for me, but I round up. This is the second book by A. Lee Martinez that I've read, and I didn't like this one as much as the previous one. It had some humor, but there was an awful lot of repetitiveness that I usually find annoying. It was a good, semi-fun short read. Most of this book goes on in the narrator's head, which is fine, but she felt very one-dimensional to me. A lot of people have mentioned the "uniqueness" quality in the book, and to a point I certainly agree. There are some genuinely nice surprises here.

A fun magic adventure.

Coincidentally, it is one of two books I was reading at the same time that had a character conflicted because she wanted to eat the flesh of the person she loved. This book is much less dark than the other one.

This was a book that I wasn't expecting to like. Drawn in by the tagline which read "A tale of vengeance, true love, and cannibalism", I thought myself thinking that this would be the perfect break from all the very heavy books I'd been reading lately. I was 100% right. The book is charming and I found myself liking it a lot more than I thought I would. It reminds me somehow of the fantasy books that I used to read when I was younger, like it's a modern take on an older way of telling stories. The cast of the story is unique enough that I found myself gleeful at their antics. It really is a breath of fresh air. It feels like it's been a long time since I've read some fantasy which involves an epic quest, but is also really good with levity.

Everything is so dark fantasy these days that this was a welcome change. Plus, this is a story that made me fall in love with a duck and a broom. If you think you can resist the lure of the duck and the broom... give it a shot, but they're really quite endearing.

The story of how a nameless witch makes her way through the world. Amusing with lots of zen-like philosophy espoused by the nameless witch. Good snow-day read.

Really cute little story. Kind of reminded me of some of the Terry Pratchett witch stuff. The nameless protagonist is equal parts clever and mysterious, and the feelings that blossom between her and the knight make for very entertaining reading, as she is totally naive.

Started off strong, slowed down a bit at the middle. The latter half was less engaging, but solid enough.

Re-read several years later, still holds up as a funny and heartwarming story, for fans of discworld type of books.

I really did enjoy this book, it's a quirky little side book that I wanted to read alongside a bigger read.
It was quirky and very unique and an enjoyable read.
I loved all the weird topics thrown into one that you'd never think would work together such as true love and cannibalism!
The journey of vengeance and trials were all linked in and your left wondering quite a lot but every good witch makes people wonder
