Mickey Mouse does underground fighting.
Can't say I was too thrilled with the whole "Mickey" name when I learnt it was a connection to Mickey Mouse, it kinda ruined it for me.
This is definitely a story I would read again, as I do love a good childhood friends to lovers story, especially the chapters where you go back in time and see them when they were younger.
I do feel like there could have been more to Roman's story for when he got out of prison, maybe it could've been a duology where they're being chased by the underground fighting world? The book did touch on that but not for too long so it was kind of disappointing.
The book left me on some unanswered questions as well but overall I liked the romance and how the book ended, especially since it didn't have the baby trope in it (I was convinced it was going to end that way).

and bella wasn't really a compelling character at all

2.5 stars
It wasn't as dark as i thought it would be , the only scenes of this book that i've seen being promoted was the one of him torturing her family and i can see why because it was the only dark element of the book, clickbait if you may , Roman is literally a golden retriever no matter how much he's described as dark and bad , my man is just prone to violence that's all lol
First 50% were the best with the flash backs up untill he comes back to get her then it all kinda gets annoying
I skimmed alot of the last 30% ngl and nearly skipped the entire last 5% epilogue included it got real cringey real fast after she forgave him and they made up
Now things that bothered me / made no sense to me :
- girlie is supposed to have sever Asthma that gets bad during winter but homeboy casually smokes infront of her ? Bruh i have mild asthma and a whif of smoke from a cigarette would make my lungs give out so the author clearly didn't do her research on the matter
- the dude casually has plan B in his medecin cabinet but no condoms? A plan B that she didn't even take and they continue to have unprotected sex with no birth control for a few weeks with no bother about pregnancy like wtf?
- both are victimes of the fucked up america system , they were both severely abused physically mentally emotionally and sexually ( Bella ) by their foster families not to mention neglected and starved , so logically they would be very mistrusting of the system but then they casually leave jeremy who's 12 or 13 ( isa's foster brother of many years ) at the mercy of the system that failed them so badly? Nah that's just selfish and fucked up
- this didn't bother me much but the primal / prey kink they had going on was very childish , the author was going for god of wrath jeremy volkov type of kink with the mask and chasing her through the woods in the haunted house but she failed badly , it was cringey to read and you can tell she just wrote it because it's a trendy kink in dark romance rn
- i didn't care for Bella , she wasnt a great fmc nor was she awful , she had moments where i was like yes girlll and other times where she seemed denser than a fucking rock
What i loved :
-Roman, especially his letters they absolutely broke my heart , i was kinda annoyed at the book by then but the letters made me BAWL my eyes out. How they were BOTH virgins
- Damien : my god this man had me on a chokehold by speaking the total of 2 sentences and Connie ?? I love me a grumpy bitchy fmmc i want her and damien's book likes RIGHT NOW cuz with the way he was described looking at her and his utter disintrest in other women YOU KNOW THEY HAVE A THING
Safety :
-Both virgins / each other's first everything and only
- childhood best friends to lovers
-no ow , no cheating
- haven't been with anyone else
- super obsessive possesive mmc

The way the book opens really caught my attention and I think that's the reason why this book is so viral. There were several scenes where I laughed because I found the characters genuinely funny.
But the back and forth of their relationship bored me a lot, as well as the lack of communication that is resolved with the stupidest reason and that is what finally makes them get together.

meh
It wasn’t bad. I think just the first half started strong and then it kind of dwindle for me. I didn’t think it was bad at all. It had good banter but I think I just expected a little more.

I initially was enjoying this book but then the FMC became a bit insufferable & so did the MMC. I just lost interest a after like the first 2/3 of the book. The audio was great & the narrators did a great job but I just had trouble focusing on the story
It was dark & I liked a lot of the tropes but something about it just didn’t hit
I do love a man who will kill anyone who did his girl wrong tho 💅💅
Spice: 🌶️.5
Type: audio (thanks MLA)
Tropes;
Dark romance
