For some reason, I decided to pick this book up even though it's been ages since I've read the first book.
I did like seeing Luce at Shoreline, and seeing her fit into a world she didn't know about. There's more to it than I thought, and I really liked seeing everything with the Shadows. We learn a lot more about everything going on with Daniel, and what happened so long ago.
I did leave the book with more questions than answers, and I want to know more about Luce and why she can do what she can do. I am absolutely convinced there is more to it, and I'm hoping we'll get some answers. I have the feeling the answers will be replaced with a million more questions, since there are a couple more books to go in the series. But still, I would like some answers. Especially with the Outcasts. And the battle at the end of book. It wasn't completely explained and I'm hoping there are answers in the next book.
I didn't particularly like Daniel. He's supposed to be the good guy, and the whole reason Luce is in this situation is because of Daniel. And yet, it seems like she is an object for him to have. Cam seems to care more about her safety than Daniel, and he seems much more willing to actually talk to her and explain things to her.
Daniel is really moody, and while I don't expect him to be a saint, I expected something different from him. It really seems like he loves the idea of Luce, and their epic history, but he's shown no interest in wanting to get to know her. Maybe he's trying to protect himself after decades of finding her, only to lose. It doesn't make his behavior okay, because it's not. But I don't get the sense that he really, truly cares about her and I'm having a hard time rooting for them. It really feels like there's no chemistry between Daniel and Luce.
Speaking of Luce, she was pretty whiny, but I don't really blame her. I think I would be too. At least there were a few students who made things better for her while she was at Shoreline. Hopefully she'll continue to have some sort of group who makes things bearable. I think it may be good for her, but we'll see.
My Rating: 3 stars. I liked it the same as Fallen (the first book) but I still want to keep reading. I'm hoping Daniel will be different, but we'll see.

I really enjoyed this book.
I currently have a lot of books purchased that I need to finish reading. So I Definitly can not wait to read the third book after catching up on my reading.
I went as far as searching chapter online to see what was next. Only two or three are released for people to read online.
Spoiler**
I'm annoyed at Luce for disappearing after the battle in her back yard. I wanted her to come out of the shed and reassure Daniel that everything is fine. But no. She runs off in a announcer. I don't understand why she had to do that... To go into her past. I did enjoy the scene where she saw all the angles including Daniel in there past selves. It was very interesting to see what she would-what they would do. Although I did want Luce to do much more than just watch behind a rock or whatever! I also wish she talked with them instead of running off again. I also liked when past and present Daniel were talking.
UGH. It makes a hell of a book. I have been avoiding reading it and all my books. But once I picked it up I could not put it down!

This book just went on and on and on with nothing getting answered in the most frustrating way. 1 step forward and 5 steps back the WHOLE time. Hoping the 3rd book is instantly better or I’m not sure I can finish the series!

This is probably one of the oldest books I've had on my TBR...I bought these first 2 books back in 2011 during a difficult time but put them down because the MMC reminded me of my ex who I was struggling getting over at the time. But anyway its been a very long time since 2011 and I have definitely moved on from that time in my life (THANK GOODNESS)...
I am reading this book for Realmathon hosted by coverswithcassidy! I have been waiting a hot minute to find the audiobooks and books for this series...My library actually unhauled this series years ago and I've been trying to find the audiobooks and physical books for YEARS. I have since added a library card to the Boston Public Library and I put in a request that they get this series and they did!
My hold on this book came in a few weeks ago and I was finally able to get to it! I literally read this book in 2 sittings it was so quick and fun! This book does read a little young BUT it is quick and fast paced. It is a school setting which I was kinda struggling with BUT as I read we started learning more about the world and it is honestly so interesting to me!
I want to learn more about these angles and demons! I want to know more about what is going on with the history of our main characters...There is still so much we don't know and I am dying to know!
This book was released during the 2010 love triangle era so of course there is more than one potential love interest for our main character Luce. Danielle is very mysterious and there is so much we don't know yet and I am dying for some answers!!
If you see me binging this series this week just know I am completely drawn in and engaged!!!

¿La encontraría?
Sin duda.
¿La salvaría?
Siempre.
NO ME GUSTA.

I think I liked this one better than Fallen! While there is so much info we (and Luce) didn't get, it was interesting to learn more about the world that Lauren Kate created. I loved the new school setting and the new characters (um, helloooooo, Miles), and Lauren's writing just pulls me in. I had such a hard time putting this book down!
A couple criticisms (and SPOILERS) beyond the obvious of no one ever telling Luce what the heck is going on yet expecting her to take orders. My biggest criticism was with Phil - from the moment he was introduced in the book as Shelby's ex-boyfriend who wanted to know all about Luce and had to wear contacts because of his eyes, I knew he was an Outcast. How did no one else figure this out!? Was this supposed to be a shocking twist when he showed up at the end? Because it was anything but. My other main annoyance (more than a criticism) was that I thought I was reading Twilight for a second during the battle scene when Luce decided to jump in the middle of the supernatural fight because she couldn't deal with anymore people dying because of her. I swear the language could have been lifted from Twilight it was so close to what Bella repeatedly thought(plus she too had an overbearing boyfriend who bossed her around without giving her any details).
For some reason the criticisms are just so much easier to write about than the positives, but I really did love this book and can't wait to read the third book!

This is the second book that I have read in the Fallen series. I really enjoyed Fallen, but I felt this book was lacking. This book seemed to consist of Luce making terrible choices and putting everyone she cares about in danger just to prove that she can be independent and doesn't need anyone's help. I hope that the rest of the books in the series will be better than this.
Things I enjoyed:
- I really enjoy the chemistry between Luce and Daniel.
- I really enjoy the world that the book is set in, and the concepts of the fallen angels and the outcasts is really intriguing.
- We know more about Luce and Daniel's past and find out more background knowledge about the fallen angels.
Things I didn't enjoy:
- Luce was really annoying to me in this book. She cares more about proving that she doesn't need anyone to save her than she does about the safety of her friends and family. She is always mad at Daniel for not telling her things when she knows that if he does tell her, she will spontaneously combust. And here she is once again making the same mistake she did with Cam in Fallen with Miles in this book. I just wish Luce made better choices and stopped risking everyone's lives for no reason.
