This was a good enough thriller to keep the pages going. I do like the way this author always adds a paranormal component which was way better this book than sundown motel. I actually thought the twist was going to be Jamie covered for his day in regards to Deb’s murder or knew some missing piece. I do like how it all came full circle that Margaret was Katie. I’m glad her goal was to find Sonia and tear down idlewood. Some places are just evil and should be torn down .

Three and a half stars.
This was a bit hard for me to get into. In enjoyed the 1950 chapters more than the 2014. But eventually it picked up and I had an interest in reading both segments.
It had elements that I don’t enjoy reading (historical) but in general it was pretty good.

This was a great ghost story. This story revolves around a eerie boarding school for troubled girls that was shut down, and a journalist who experienced a tragedy linked to that school. The timelines alternate from 1950 to 2014 and there are multiple POVs. This revolved around two murder mysteries and there’s also a compelling ghost story. This sounds like it would be too much, but I felt like all of these elements worked.

All of the characters and the mysteries going on kept me intrigued and invested. However, the reveals were pretty underwhelming and I wasn’t blown away. This was decent overall, and even though I didn’t love it I do still recommend it.

I listened to this primarily on audio and the narrator did a good job, but this would have benefitted from multiple narrators with the shifting POVs (clearly I’ve just been spoiled by that in audiobooks recently).

It was pretty good and kept me interested. I wished the ending would have been different, I liked the idea of a ghost story but happy for the characters who got their happy ending.
