I love this genre of books. It is something that I don't think that i could ever do, but reading about it is so interesting. I mean obviously it is very sexy, but I mostly love it for the relationship. I feel like there is so much love in these relationships. This book was a roller coaster of emotions, but I loved it. I wanted to keep reading. I am hoping that in the next books we get to learn more about Nathaniel. I would recommend this for all those who enjoy this genre.
I personally really enjoyed this book, though there were a few one too many sex scenes. This might have been because the author wanted to show Abigail progressing in the BDSM lifestyle, but it got a bit repetitive for me. It was nice to see them having vanilla sex though, and I felt that those times were very cute. I felt almost like I could place myself in Abigail's shoes, since I too am kinda wanting to try out the lifestyle.
I am curious how the author is going to expand the couple in The Training, since a lot of their issues seems to have been summed up in this book. I am also finding myself to want to read the next book in the series, the Dominant, which is a retelling of the same story from Nathaniel's point of view. I plan to buy these books very soon so I can find out how my questions are answered.

Hot, sparks fly, little bit of angst and groveling, super intense romance.
It was a nice fluffy, fairly predictable read that I still enjoyed. I would keep going but a) 9.99 for a kindle book I can read in 2 hours is too much and b) my library only has audio and I just can't do the smut on audio.

I really wanted to fall in love with this book but it was just okay to me. some of the lines made me actually laugh which is not good in a book like this. I felt myself rolling my eyes at some parts too. for the most part I enjoyed the two main characters. the rest of the characters I didn't care about at all. I even forgot who some of them were.
I actually think this book is a bit too short. I wish there were more descriptions of places and people. I would have loved to know about abbys job more, it was one of the reasons I picked up this book in the first place. overall it was an enjoyable read and I'll probably pick up the sequels just for the two main characters.

The Submissive is the first book in the submissive series and this is a series that I have really been wanting to read and it's been on my TBR for years! I finally grabbed this one up here and I am so thrilled that I did because it was such a solid BDSM romance. And this book just really handles so much of the BDSM elements so well. Which comes to no surprise if you have read this author before. This story starts out very intensely sexual, there is such strong vibes that connect these two. I really liked the backstory to their connection and how them meeting and having a dom/sub relationship is not by chance. I really loved both the characters and seeing their relationship grow and some of these scenes that they are in, are just perfection and really build upon their relationship but there are also times when we see them outside and really connect outside of being a dom/sub to each other, where they are just sweet lovers and friends. I was captivated by their romance and seeing their character growth. We get some challenges that they need to overcome, as Nathaniel has some personal demons that he needs to overcome, as he doesn't let himself become emotionally invested. But seeing the way that Abby really pushes him to open himself up to emotion and love was one of my favorite aspects to her character. She has such strength and courage to stand for what she deserves in the relationship. I truly found The Submissive to be such a strong beginning to the series and will set the stage for books next in the series.
I read the original fanfiction version of this book. It's less purple and awkward than "Fifty Shades of Grey," the more famous "Twilight" fanfiction, but neither of them is actually as good as "Twilight."
I don't usually read these types of book but I've been immersed in Fantasy lately so I wanted to read something different.
I have to say I skimmed most of the sex scenes - I know, it's ridiculous when this book is all about them but I was more interested in the characters and their developing relationships. I wanted to read this book because the topic interested me since it's a lifestyle you don't hear much about. Why do people do it? How do they organise themselves between their daily lives and their lifestyle? Why does society react negatively to it? Well, the academic in me was curious although I am aware this was not the most appropriate way to have my questions answered.
I really loved these characters, I love reading about their conversations and the time spent together. I loved Abby as a protagonist.
And when Abby and Nathaniel started quoting poetry to each other? I melted!
The thing is, as much as I love these characters they lack a certain depth to them. They're still enjoyable to read about but they're certainly not memorable. The writing is very weak: the descriptions are minimal which would sometimes confuse me and there aren't enough contemplative moments for Abby's POV.
I don't think I'm going to keep reading this series. I felt okay with how it ended.
