I admit it. I am an Antihero Book Whore and I can't get enough of these unredeemable bad boys.

Loved this tale of The Assassin and his woman.

No cliffhanger. Can't wait for the next book in the series about another hitman we met, Daniel.

Surprisingly, I like this story more than I thought I would be. Due to the mixed reviews, I didn’t expect I would like it. Though, I understand why it has mixed reviews.

My favorite thing about this story is Nikolai’s contradictory feelings. There’s a battle between his love for Daisy and his responsibility. The way Daisy deals with it are good too. She makes him confident in their love.

One of the things that I noticed is the meeting between Nikolai and Daisy is a little bit cliche. Too good to be true. I know they fall in love at first sight, but it’s too convenient for my taste. Next, Daisy is oblivious to Nikolai’s job, even though he talks about it briefly. But I’m not bothered by this. Last, how unfortunate life is for Regan. I don’t want to spill anything, but it’s a bad coincidence that brings her tragedy.

I'm sure this series is going to become one of my favorites.
Ukranian bad boy hero, American heroine, Russian Mafia. Beautifully written. I felt like reading Kresley Cole's books. Nick and Daisy - Nick is awesome, while Daisy is kinda okay. But this whole story is beautiful!

Umm…this book was kind of all over the place. Russian hitman falls for country bumpkin who knows nothing about the world. The premise didn’t grab me, but I figured, what the heck, I would give it a shot.

This was insta love. Plain and simple. Nick sees Daisy from his building across the street and instantly knows she must be his. And when I mean sees her from across the street, I mean, he spies on her from his apartment into hers. I’m sorry but that’s not romantic (come on, Daisy!). He also tends to stalk her and destroy her things so he can buy her new ones.

Then there’s Daisy, the little innocent virginal flower. Her mother was killed in a random act of violence and because of that, her father shut the out the outside world and raised his daughter within the confines of his own house. Only letting her leave for a few hours each day to buy food. Somehow Daisy manages to run away and it’s in the big city where she meets Nikolai. She literally knows nothing about life and easily trusts Nick almost from the moment they meet.

The book then proceeded to go the way most insta love books go: everything super-fast and super unbelievable. He teaches her about her sexuality while also lying about his profession (oh he’s a hitman). He tries to get her to quit her job because it’s not safe and he can’t protect her there. And then DRAMA.

Of course Nick’s profession was going to cause problems. And poor little Daisy gets caught up in the crossfire. Sigh…predictable. Unfortunately, this book just didn’t cut it for me. And when your side characters are more interesting than your main, there’s a problem. What this book did do for me was entice me to read the next one. Regan and Daniel just seem so much more interesting than Nikolai and Daisy.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher for my honest opinion and review.

Phew. Moral grey areas aplenty here. When I switched off my compass though, I found myself enjoying this. Two people with very messed up pasts find each other and forge hope for a better future. It was surprisingly sweet at times, I'm curious to see what happens next in Last Breath. Also, I adore the fact that Meljean Brook designed the cover! Talented lady.

Oh boy. I have a lot of issues with this one. I was so excited to read it, too! Jessica Clare, what happened? Why would you write such a creepy, stalkery, overbearing, manipulative, scary alpha male Hero? And I hate to say it but your heroine was mega boring. I had high hopes for this one, and they were all dashed. Not fun, not cute, not sexy, just... scary, really. I really loathe books that take this kind of "Hero" and paint his terrible, possessive, unhealthy attributes as, like, the ultimate way he can care for his Heroine. I don't THINK so. Do not make that kind of behavior acceptable--and especially don't make it into a GOOD thing! (He watches her before he even meets her or knows her, manipulates the first meeting, destroys her possessions so he can buy her new and better ones, lies to her, tracks her phone (that he gave her) via the GPS, taps into the security feed at her job so he can watch her, etc. etc. These are obvious stalker signs. The Heroine actually admits he's exhibiting these behaviors, and she defines them as "stalkerish" but then in the next paragraph practically, she wonders if it's okay that he's a stalker because she thinks he's hot.

No.

Pass.

Don't read this one, you guys. Read Jessica Clare's other books. (They still have issues with possessive, overbearing alpha males, but they don't cross the line--at least not as much--as this one does)

Liked it but it won't be on my mind a long time.
Loved Nick but I didn't like Daisy - she belongs to that type of female characters I can't stand (naive, innocent, dumb, completely doormat material) - don't know what Nick found in her really. That was one of the problems, we don't know why they fall in love - in lust sure but in love nah - how can Daisy can fall in love with Nick as she doesn't even know who he is ?

Lack of characters too - we saw Regan and Daniel for a bit and that's it.

Needed more a roller-coaster of emotions - the subject was perfect for that ! We don't read about Russian mob every day !

I'm not sure what I was expecting with this story but it was so much more than that. It's seriously intense and sexy and a little bit scary (which I loved). I love that both the main characters were a little bit broken and terribly isolated and how they fit together well. I'm about to devour the next one.

This book’s synopsis took me for a loop, it hardly gave anything away but it still drew me in and when I started the first few chapters in Daisy’s view I was a little skeptical and intrigued because Daisy had been living with her father who was agoraphobic and only allowed her out for groceries and what not an hour per week and she decided enough was enough and left. In doing so she became this bright-eyed bushy tail young innocent and sheltered a-whole-new-world person after she left home. Then incomes Nikolai a used to be hit man for the Russian Bratva which I had never heard of in my life. Thanks google. And I’m a sucker for all the Russian words thrown in like Da.
