This is a sweet story about a witch and a firebird who are gone for each other from the very beginning. It was always clear that these two were going to be together, so there was not that much sexual tension to propel the story. The more compelling narrative concerns Ophelia’s journey to come into herself and build a life and identity separate from her traumatic past.

Broderick, the male witch lead, is shocked by how attracted he is to Ophelia, the female firebird shifter he released from a spell keeping her in a rabbit’s form. But Ophelia has more baggage than being kept as a bunny, and Broderick will need to work hard to convince her that he sincerely wants a relationship and that she does too…

This novella is dual POV, well written and edited, and a great addition to the series. I adored how cutely awkward both characters were with each other. It was sweet to see how they worked through their miscommunications with each other and with others. I enjoyed the relationship development and the intimate scenes. I also enjoyed the integrated secondary characters and the family relationships. I love this world and every story the author writes in it is great. I just wish this had been longer and can’t wait for the next one!

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

Ophelia is amazing, I love how strong she is. She’s so cute and just wants to live. I also love Broderick and how awkward but kind he is. They are so good together and the whole story is adorable!
