I was really excited to pick up this book, but it ended up being a little boring. I didn’t overly hate it, but it truly read like a fan fiction that got changed into a different setting/new characters so it could be published. The relationship between Elsie and jack felt rushed and lacked heart, desire, yearning, longing, and really any other feeling that would make you want to root for them or see their chemistry. Also the sex scenes?? We get it!! Elsie is soooooooo tiny and jack is sooooo big, I hate that that was really his only trait - big guy who likes science and is secretly a feminist who sticks up for women and only wrote a bad article that almost destroyed a discipline because he was mad about his dead mom . I honestly don’t know if I would have finished the book if it wasn’t for the fact that I brought it with me on vacation and I didn’t have much else to read. Overall the story was underwhelming and empty. Probably won’t read anything else by this author again.

Ali Hazelwood may only know how to write one thing, but she knows how to do it WELL. This latest STEM romance had my heart hurting in such a good way, even when some of the physics lingo went over my head.
I would get so mad for Elsie sometimes at the people completely taking advantage of her. It really shows how being a chronic people pleaser can mean that you are also allowing yourself to be used as a doormat, which I think a lot of only and eldest daughters can relate to to some degree.
I just loved Jack so much and curse Ali for making me love a blond man. His constant teasing made me giddy and his backstory with his family was, I think, the best one out of all of Hazelwood’s love interests.
And, of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how unbelievably hot it was. The tension between Elsie and Jack was palpable and sexy. When they finally come together, WOW it is amazing.

Uh, that was STUNNING. I have no notes, except for the fact that I want a follow up short story or something. That genuinely is the best romance book I have ever read to date. There was such a great balance of character development, especially in the academic setting which I loved!!! Elsie and Jacks story was just so beautifully written. Ali hazelwood I worship the ground you walk on.
