I’m mixed about how I feel about this book.

It was written extremely well, however the characters fell extremely flat. I couldn’t get an understanding on Jenna, Alex, Amelia, and NE. In fact, I frequently got NE and Alex confused. Also, the epilogue wasn’t needed at all. Let’s not have dogs die.

Amelia’s grief was real in parts, but again I wish I had a stronger sense of Jenna and Amelia, to make it more real for me, to make me feel sad and those emotions. Instead, this also was a little flat.

One other thing that irked me was the panic attack explanation. Was a bit.... too easy?

However, I loved Jenna’s parents, wish we had more of the relationship with all of them. I’m going to be honest, I skimmed a good chunk of the end because I felt like it was just... a whole bunch of nothingness.

AMELIA UNABRIDGED at its heart is about two young people trying to figure out how to move forward after life-altering loss, and it is beautiful! Amelia has just graduated HS with her best friend Jenna and they are looking forward to summer and then college together. But all those plans change when Jenna is killed in a car crash in Scotland.

Nolan Endsley is the young best-selling author of The Orman Chronicles book series that Amelia and Jenna are obsessed with. They intended to meet him at a book festival in California, but Nolan backed out at the last minute because of his depression and anxiety. The publication date for the third book in his series keeps getting pushed back until it falls off the calendar completely.

Soon after Jenna’s death, Amelia receives a special edition of The Orman Chronicles that’s not supposed to exist; it’s the 101st edition of 100 copies. It came from some bookstore in Michigan. Thinking this is some message from beyond the grave from Jenna, Amelia tracks down this bookstore and ends up finding Nolan Endsley. Together they share their fears, regrets, and grief. Ultimately, their friendship (and books) helps them each figure out how to move forward.

This story carefully paints the pain of grief, which anyone who has lost someone close can relate to. The characters grow and have hope at the end, but their grief isn’t gone, making it realistic. I absolutely love it.

A lovely debut. The writing is beautiful, enchanting and heartfelt. The story is simple but not easy. A wonderful tribute to authors and bookworms. And now I wish Orman was real.

"Amelia Unabridged" tells the story of a Amelia dealing with her best friend's unexpected death. After receiving an unknown package from a small book store out of state, Amelia is taken on a journey of self discovery, grieving, and falling in love while seeking answers

This book is like reading about people reading. Unfortunately, it takes out some of the fun of it. Although the relationship between Amelia and her best friend was thoroughly explained and developed, the love interest was developed too quickly that made it a bit unbelievable. I kept thinking there was going to be a magical plot twist, but the story circled around the same themes. In addition, grief is a big part of this book and is well protrayed, but I was left wanting to learn more about the characters and their motives on a deeper level.

this was so heartbreaking but incredibly beautiful at the same time
