I love this book and I love this series (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)

4.5*

I'm a happy crying mess right now. The first part of this book ripped me to shreds with all the angst, but then it put me back together. Kestrel and Arin are very unique characters and I'm so grateful for their story. And let's not forget all the secondary characters that graced this series, namely Roshar whose witty humor and sarcasm is something I relate to on a deep level. I'm just so satisfied right now, I'm glowing!

3.75 stars. I did not want the story to end. I wanted the stakes to keep rising and the series to go on for many more books. What a ride it has been. I’m definitely going to have to come back to this series for a re-read.

I was not very impressed with the ending, however. Kestrel and her father never ended up having a final conversation that meant anything. No reconciliation. Same with Jess. Disappointed.

Worse than the first, better than the second, still just as mediocre as when I started. I don't know what I expected when I decided to finish reading a series that I deemed "just okay" instead of an "oh my god that was amazing" or a "holy shit this is so bad it's hilarious."

This is better that the second book in that it has a plot. Things actually happen, even if they are still duller than dishwater when it comes to tension.

Honestly, the only thing as far as surprises in strategy or outcome that made me mildly remark, "Hm. Okay, cool," was the poisoned tiles at the end.

There is nothing special about this. I would recommend several other things long before I recommended this to anyone. I would probably even recommend some of my least favorite books over this one because, as I often say, sometimes it's worse to be mediocre and boring than it is to be spectacularly terrible.

He murmured that he loved her more than he could say. He promised that he would always choose her first.

What a conclusion! I have so few words. I loved it. I love the action, the adventure, the tension, the turmoil, the emotion. The writing is as beautiful as always, the story wonderfully told. The only way I'd have loved it more is if we'd had more sweet moments between Arin and Kestrel, but honestly, what we got was wonderful, so I wholeheartedly give this book and its series a solid 5 stars. Marie Rukoski knows her stuff--she puts the complexity of human emotion on display and deftly weaves it into her story, breathing exceptional life into her characters. I've nothing to complain about. This series is an ideal blend for me--complex, but not overly demanding, emotional, but not in a way that rips you apart inside, beautiful, but not so concerned with aesthetic it loses its ability to tell a solid story.

I'm miffed at myself for not reading this series sooner, but I'm also glad I waited and was able to enjoy this series for the first time right now. I give this series my complete recommendation.

I am so glad I kept with this series! I absolutely loved this final book. The first 2 books were interesting but didn't intoxicate me the way that this one did. I really liked the evolution of the characters and of course Roshar added a much needed light-hearted, humorous twist on things.

My favorite of the trilogy!

This was such a good conclusion to this series. :")
