An excellent murder-mystery to wrap up the year -- set aboard an interplanetary cruise ship, no less! Clever plot twists, quippy dialogue, and lead characters with fabulous chemistry (plus an incomparably cute dog) make this a terrific read.

I enjoyed this book so much! It was especially delightful to hear the author narrate the audiobook herself.

In terms of plot, pacing, and interesting characters, this book was great. It's also cool & important to see nonbinary genders and folks with disabilities represented well. My personal difficulty with the book - and it's a me problem - is that, as a person with pretty much constant back & knee pain, reading is often a way to distract myself from physical discomfort. Tesla's frequent mention of her own physical pain throughout the story didn't allow me to escape my own.

Very fun! Sometimes a bit repetitive, especially regarding Crane's distracting or investigative strategies, but I'm not surprised that it has appeared on many nominations lists: the explorations of disability and the mixing of genres are definite strengths, though as more mystery-savvy folks in my book club pointed out, the payoff when the solution was revealed was a bit undermined. Still, overall a solid read when you want something read, and I'm sure there will be more in the future!

4 stars because it is fun and has this wonderful cruise ship with three levels of gravity. But Fantine is so annoying, so one star less. But it has also Gimlet, so one star more.. :D
