I like sci-fi and I like romance but this was a hodge-podge of mess. Set in a dystopian future, corporations engineer human beings to maximise their abilities and to capitalise on their man power. The romantic "interaction" between the two leads was annoying as hell and the book generally fell into confusion and disarray about halfway. I got to 68% before calling it quits.

Mary Sue meets Tarzan
Thank goodness this was free with Amazon Prime. Without spoilers, here we go:
-the heroine is the best at something in the world
-but she's laughably bad at that without the hero
-making disgusting, diminishing, patronizing remarks, over and over again to the heroine just proves your sexy dominance.
-there's nothing LIKABLE about the hero. seriously. Not one thing. The author uses world building as a way to explain away having personality or a basic history.
-as a mom of two, I had a real problem with the whole "let me override your treadmill bc you're pregnant, and I don't want you to run, even though it's better for you" subplot.
-the "toddler in tow" is more like a "useful plot device in tow" .... You can go through pages and pages of crashes and shooting and the most you get about the toddler is, "whee". That's not how toddlers are, and it doesn't treat the child as a PERSON.
I admit, I skipped about 30% in the middle, hoping it would get better. It did not.

Part of me really enjoyed the fast paced nature of this book.
Another part of me felt a little duped. When I started reading, I thought I was getting a dis-Utopian science fiction book. The initial world building left me fascinated and wanting to know about how they had gotten to this point and to where they would go.
However, at a certain point, there was a turn towards romance and the world building got left behind. I didn't mind the concept of a minor romance, but the characters and their interactions suddenly started thriving off of that vibe, instead of the escape at hand. It was a bit of a struggle to get through the middle of the book.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this book but I wanted to understand the world better. Instead I was caught up in an almost cliche romance while the characters were on the run.
I will say the chase scene/fighting scenes were very well written.

At first I was like "yes! A pro-women book"
I got about 30% through and just couldn't swallow any more.
The world building is non existent. Which makes it confusing.
The lead female is a bad-ass BUT then the author SAYS she is weak. Ugh. And she gets worse.
The alpha male is annoying. Really annoying and unbelievable
The author sets these two leads as superheroes and super smart and unbeatable. Which leaves me, the audience, with no invested interest in their escape or future. They'll handle it. Why finish the book?
So... since I couldn't care less about the story, the characters, the world, or the plot... I'm out.

Started off strong, and then quickly went straight to garbage. I had to push myself through this one, despite having such strong hopes.
If you like glaring plot holes, cheesy predictable romance, and poorly written action sequences in a sci-fi setting this is the series for you! I won't be continuing this series as my vision literally started to blur from the dullness and ridiculous non-stop innuendo that is apparently supposed to pass for witty banter, ugh.
I love K.F.Breene's books and though I am so sad that her Warrior Chronicles series has ended, I am equally excited to start a new series!Fate Of Perfection is completely different from her usual books, but it also has her trademark mix of romance, action, kick ass heroines and swoonworthy heroes.
Fate Of Perfection is set in a futuristic, dystopian world where conglomerates rule the world- by creating genetically engineered employees for different purposes by careful control of breeding.Millicent is one such employee and a weapons designer for Moxidone. She has been quite satisfied with her life and the riches, and is gifted with the rare honor of being chosen to breed a child. She is quite special due to her exemplary talents. They even assign Ryker, the head of security, to keep her safe during her pregnancy and early stages of motherhood.
Usually the children are taken away from their mothers/carriers(as they are called) after one year.As Millicent spends more time with her daughter Marie she inevitably falls in love with ehr and the joys of motherhood. But, Marie is even more special than Millicent, and Moxidone will stop at nothing to keep her.
So, Millicent devises a plan to escape off with Marie, and she also has Ryker to help her out! Will they be able to make it out safe in this race against time?
Millicent is intelligent, feisty and kickass just like K.F.Breene's heroines but she is quite different from Shanti and others too.The chemistry between her and Ryker was crazy awesome!I loved the passion and the way Ryker is ready to break the rules for her.
The action sequences were really good and the book had me at the edge of my seat the whole time!I read it in one complete sitting without putting it down at all! Can't wait to read the next book!I hope it comes out soon and I'm so glad I have a new series that has me hooked! <3

I really liked the concept, and the whole idea behind the book, but everything seemed to be lacking otherwise. The dialogue was atrocious, and the rapport between Millicent and Ryker was bordering on misogynistic.
I was glad I finished, and the ending set up the next book nicely, but a revelation about one of the "conglomerates" at the third act didn't have the emotional punch it tried to give. Why should I care about the real big bad if there wasn't any set up to begin with? Won't be continuing with the series
2.5 stars, though I can't do that on Goodreads

Absolutely ridiculous, over the top, sci-fi thriller..... not my style of book. The dialogue was like Princess Leia and Han Solo after overdosing on oysters... constant bickering and sexual banter. The hero (Ryker) and heroine (Millicent) hurtle around in futuristic vehicles and settings while toting a toddler (Marie) who apparently never gets hungry, wets her diaper, or throws tantrums. During the many chase scenes, I would sometimes forget Marie existed until a locked door was encountered and Marie's magic unlocking power was needed. While the premise deals with corporations seeking to perfect humans, the books hero is Ryker, who is constantly calling Millicent sweetheart, cupcake, and princess, when he's not too busy killing bad guys, making dick jokes, or talking about his sexual prowess. After meeting, Millicent and Ryker take an instant Harlequin romance dislike to each other that will inevitably lead to true love. When Millicent is selected to breed and injected with sperm, it takes about two seconds to figure out it will undoubtedly be Ryker who is the father. It read more like a comic book than a novel, but did somehow maintain a modicum of fun by not taking itself too seriously.
I finished it. that’s the only good thing I can say.
I wanted to Dnf this so many times. But I bought it and was determined to finish. I guess this was just not for me. I like the author, this just wasn’t up my alley.
