This is such a fantastic YA read and I wish I had books like this growing up. There's Asian rep and feminism! In the story, Eliza loses the vote for editor in chief for the high school news paper to a jock, Len, who randomly decided to run for the position. Throughout the book Eliza and her friends face the unfortunate reality of how much harder it is for girls to be recognized and how much more work they need to put into it compared to their male counterparts. They try to fight for feminism and equality. Meanwhile, Eliza and Len get cozy, which can upend all of the hard work Eliza and her friends put into promoting feminism at their school. Amazing read and I am a feminist!

Um. I did really like it and I'm trying to remember that they are high school students new to feminism but I really didn't like the let's take down Len aspect of the story. I think it was more imperative for the editorial staff to realize the prejudice's towards electing him and not Eliza.

So at some points I was like this is not good feminism but also - high school students learning - it would have also been nice to see some of the teachers and staff interacting with the students about the different causes and trying to help.

I did feel like a lot of threads were left open. Like Eliza and Len's parents and their stories - her sister Kim - Winona's film --- I did still really like it!

I just started Michelle's second book and it has alternating veiwpoints and I'm like - yes! this was what was missing from Not Here to Be Liked!

I see the potential in the story. I would not say that this is the biggest feminist piece or whatever but I think that it did point a lot of good examples of what sexism does in society. Based on the reviews, I was really expecting the female main character to be insufferable, but I actually think that she was not that bad so I am kind of confused by how she got that negative image. The story was good. I feel like it was a little bit overdramatic sometimes ( especially towards the end). I think the struggles Asian Americans face was important to note and I appreciate the author talking about it.I liked the romance but I feel like even without it would still be interesting !
