Jenny Han, Siobhan Vivian

I like Jenny Han. Her Summer series is very entertaining and I enjoy it, when I picked up this book I expected a lot. I was met with a generally entertaining novel, but was slightly disappointed.
To be honest, I think a book about getting revenge on people is bound to be something that I don't love. I found some of the plot in this novel, no, most of it, kind of petty. Some parts I was near rolling my eyes at the predictability or something or other.
Don't get me wrong, the book was enjoyable enough. It was funny to read of the different ways these ladies acted upon the people who had wronged them.
The characters could tend to be a little stereotypical, but I liked them enough. Lillia was my favorite of the three (I liked her name haha), Kat and Mary could be annoying at certain times but they were cool too. For some reason unbeknownst to me, I really liked Lillia's sister too. She didn't seem like a character that was meant to be super liked, but I enjoyed reading about her.
The whole Kat/Lillia/What's his name love triangle thing going on is captivating, and I might just read the next book just to find out where that goes.
Overall, I enjoyed the summer series more than this book, but it may have been that I was reading them at different times and I felt more negatively towards "books like this one" while I was reading it.
I would recommend this to any fans of series like Pretty Little Liars and such, this book reminded me of the vibe that one had. It's more for girls and people who don't mind petty revenge schemes I guess?
I'm sounding negative, this book is rather entertaining, don't get me wrong.

I think that this was an interesting concept for the book and ended up enjoying it. The second book was my favorite of the series and so that is why this one is ranked lower, it was still a good book but it lacked in some excitement just because a lot of the book was setting up the characters and building a relationship between the three friends.

I honestly don't know what to make of this one. It was way darker than I expected, and the paranormal aspect was confusing. It's basic high school revenge thriller, plus random acts of magic. You get a kind of Great and Terrible Beauty vibe, but with less likable characters.

I couldn't put this book down! I really like all three of the girls and how the story is told from three points of view. There is a slight paranormal element and I am really interested to see where the authors take it. Can't wait to read the next one. Reminds of a mix between "Pretty Little Liars" and the tv show "Revenge."

4.5 ⭐️

Can't wait to read the rest of this series - so addicting.

Cliffhanger at the end blew my mind
dark lighthearted mysterious tense medium-paced

This is the first book I've read on pulseit.com and I'm glad I did. It took me less than one morning to finish, because I couldn't stop reading it. It was different, not creepy, and SO SO SO good. I'm so happy I could read it for free and I'm going to be reading Fire with Fire (is this how's the second called? I think so) and I'll probabily buy them both later,
The first chapters were okay, but then after chapter 5 I really really enjoyed this book. It's quite short, good to read and interesting. It kind of reminded me of Pretty Little Liars, but only for the friendship thing.
Let's start from the cover. I LOVE it so much. It's gorgeous. It has great colors and the girls are perfect.
The characters: I really really like Kat, she's my favourite, just like the other two girls, Mary and Lillia. They made me love the story so much! They're great, really.
The writing is great too. It's easy, so easy to read and enjoy. I've only read The Summer I turned pretty by Jenny Han and nothing from Siobhan Vivian, but this book made me want to read more. It was totally unexpected. And the ending was just a little not what I would have expected, but I still really really like this book. You should read it!
