At Last!

For those of us who define ourselves as “Twihards”, this story was a long time coming. I had mourned SM’s promise that she would not be completing this story.

I was THRILLED the day I learned Midnight Sun was going to be published and immediately pre-ordered my copy.

I have taken my time reading this book for the simple fact that I wanted to savor every little detail. I’m so thankful that Stephenie Meyer made the decision to complete this story-this fan was not disappointed.

If you have a love for the Twilight Saga, you’ll be very pleased with Midnight Sun. My only criticism is that SM promises that she will not be writing any other stories from Edward’s perspective. With a character as developed as Edward Cullen, it feels like a huge missed opportunity.

Enjoy, Twihards!

Wow it’s been a while since I visited the world of Twilight. When I was a teen and at the height of Twilight mania, the first few chapters or Midnight Sun were posted online. I remember reading them with my friends and it’s wild that now, 15 years later, I’m reading that finished book.

Returning to Twilight as an adult is wild. I remember the story and the plot but some of the dialogue and the decisions the characters make now really threw me looking at things from the perspective as an adult. Edward and Bella are written like middle aged adults. It’s something that I didn’t really notice as a kid, but now I did laugh a few times wondering why these two have the most generic answers for their favorite things.

I liked seeing more of Alice and the rest of the Cullen’s in this book, that was the best part of the story.

Edward though, is unhinged. The amount of murder and soul contemplation in this book is so much higher than I’d expected. It made me cringe a bit.

I wasn’t really surprised by any of the events of this book, but it was a nostalgic trip back to my childhood. There’s plenty of laughs and WTF moments in this book to keep a previous “Twi-Hard” entertained for a couple days at least.

It's not perfect and it's overly long, but I really liked getting not only Edward's perspective, but also a deeper understanding of most of the characters via Edward's mind-reading ability. Example: in the first book, Jasper seems like an unnecessary side character -- Alice's arm candy. However, in the baseball scene and later the fight against James, his abilities prove incredibly formidable. This book fills in all of the gaps of things that were going on outside of Bella's knowledge and gives the overall story much more depth.

This book kick started my 2020 Twilight Renaissance. I totally forgot so many plot points of the book, so I felt like I was reading it for the first time. The book made me appreciate Rob Pattinson’s portrayal of Edward bc it’s so spot on to his emo inner thoughts. I am a fan of twilight so I loved it

I loved this book, it was definitely fun to see Edward's perspective on meeting Bella and on several of the key moments from Twilight. It makes me want to watch all of the movies again!

The book is soooo descriptive at times that I got bored, hence the amount of time it took for me to read it! I really liked the draft tho, which is why I’m puzzled as to why it was such a pain to read this. Edward tires me more times I can count... somethings were nice, like learning more about the character of bella, sewing how alices visions work and knowing a bit more about the cullens.

At the end of the day I think my timing was wrong. Don’t read twilight and then right after this one. It gets too repetitive...

Also, Edward should find a vampire therapist... the dude needs it. The self deprecation was real. So yeah maybe I’ll reread in a far away future. Who knows
