I went into this one expecting to not like it as i did not like the last three or so books from Dean Koontz. Overall not bad, the story was alright. I just wish he would come up with new bad guys. It seems like he uses the ultra rich evil people who plot to take over the world and remake it into their own vision a little bit too often.
I really don't know what to rate this one. It's a sci-fi, thriller, humour all combined into one type of book. At times gripping and at times making you roll your eyes.
Well written, I always have enjoyed how this author describes people and atmospheric detail. I like the central plot but found some of the supernatural plots to out there for me. The main plot felt unresolved to me although I see the importance of how it did go.

Not a typical Dean Koontz book. Tried to hard to be funny but was very corny. Not scary at all.

If you just want some silly, mindless fun without any particularly high stakes - this could be worth a shot.
It reads a bit kiddish, I wasn't really sure who the intended audience was, but I can imagine 13 year old boys enjoy it and there's nothing that would make it inappropriate for them. We do also get a dual timeline, one of which follows Benny and a couple of friends having a bit of a crazy adventure in boarding school, which kids would likely get some fun from reading.
The breaking the fourth wall sections grated on me a bit, but I personally don't like them in general.
Overall, a fun, fast read, but if you're expecting a thriller/ horror/ adult novel, you might be a bit disappointed.
