Cute and cozy, in the way creepy fairy tales can be cozy. T. Kingfisher has yet to disappoint me.

Good read, cute story.
I purchase this book because it was my Book Clubs pick of the month. It was a beautiful retelling of Hans Christian Andersen's the Snow Queen. It was a wild adventure and I loved all the animals; from the talking ravens to the large snow otters. Beautifully written story with some lgbtq+ rep

Finally finished this. Took me longer than it should have but I just kept not getting super engaged once we hit the middle part. This was mostly a nice read, 3. 25 stars. But I didn't love Janna with Greta though I came around more than I was in the beginning of it. I suppose it's better than her getting with Kay. I wish we got to know more of what he meant by eternity and what exactly he was doing. I also wish we got to see how he was once his heart was thawed. And last wish was wanting to see Greta with her grandmother one more time. Felt that would have been a sweet conclusion. I really loved the animals in this story though, so lovable. The plants too. I like that the plants took the snow queen down.

I'm not going to lie, I wasn't familiar with the fairy tale 'The Snow Queen'. About halfway through the book, I finally looked it up on Wikipedia. I agree with the author, Hans Christian Andersen was a weird dude. Anyway, I quite enjoyed what they shared, and where they diverged. I seem to have a corvid theme happening in my books as of late, I'll see if it continues with my next. Not much to fault with this story. It's one of the better retold fairy tales out there. T Kingfisher knows how to spin a good yarn.
