the writing and plot was decent, but alice was insufferable. i get what the author was trying to convey, but alice was straight up rude for no reason. i liked harvey though, and i felt bad for him the entire time

If you like "The Fault in Our Stars" this is another one to consider...except you get to live.

Raw. Honest. Ugly.

A very promising debut novel from Julie Murphy, a cancer story so different from other cancer stories (not that I've read that many, but still). Told in two perspectives, it's about a girl named Alice, who has been diagnosed with leukemia and has come to terms with dying, but then unexpectedly (a miracle according to her doctor) goes into remission and has to face the ugly truth. She has to deal with the consequences of all the mean things she has done to get back at people who had hurt her before her diagnosis.
It was super enjoyable and I felt really connected to the characters.

Very readable, but maybe a little over-angsty.

This was alright. It’s a book about a girl with cancer, who has this “to-do” list to complete before she passes, but when she goes into remission, she has to face the consequences of her actions from completing her “to-do” list. It wasnt anything I thought it would be. I thought most of it would focus on the list, but it didn’t really much at all.
Honestly, Alice was just flat out mean. I understand that Julie Murphy was writing a probably accurate character for a fed up teenage girl, but geez. She was mean, and actually just kind of annoying.
Harvey was precious. I felt awful for him the entire book because all Alice did was just push him around. I liked Harvey a lot though.
This was okay, nothing awesome, but not bad. Easy read.

I devoured this in 24 hours - SO GOOD, and not just because I have my own Harvey (no, seriously, his last name is Harvey and we're married now) from high school (though Alice I'm not).

Harvey is steadfast perfection. Alice is...Alice has...issues. But despite them, it's easy to like her and root for her.

"But when the girl you loved was dying, it was hard not to let yourself go with her."

I really didn't enjoy this one very much. It held my interest, but the characters seemed flat and the situations weren't very believable.
