Starting the book off with motion sickness and continuing to talk about it for so many pages made me feel queasy and uneasy. With such a short book; seems unnecessary to dwell on motion sickness in such graphic ways. Just couldn’t get beyond it.
Graphic: Vomit
fast-paced
This starts off pretty good, and with an interesting premise, and then it derails, and derails further and faster the longer you read. There's missing words. There's timeline errors. Then we get to the point where we start contradicting things in the very next paragraph. And then there's all the events that just come out of nowhere and make no sense. And the things we're just told, not shown, and given no evidence for. It's just a disjointed wreck.
I actually hope this was not edited because the idea of someone being that bad at their job is genuinely distessing.

I want to say that this is typically not my go to read as modern day supernatural is a bit iffy for me. Though I want to expand my reading this year so I did give it a try.
I am just confused...
The pacing of this book was rather weird. I didn't know how much time had passed for some events and it felt too fast for everyone to become best friends and/or making out...There was no real connection for me and it felt like a chore to read at some parts.
I did like the fact that it had a found family trope and there was like a coven of sisterhood there but again it felt a little too fast to really have an impact on relationships.
There was something missing in this book for me unfortunately even if I did want to love it I just couldn't.

Enjoyable, light paranormal romance.
Riley moves to a small, quaint island-town and discovers she is the last in a line of witches whose duty it is to guard an old Victorian house haunted by hundreds of ghosts who are magically linked to individual "attachment-objects".
She has a run-in with Edison, a handsome stranger on the ferry crossing to the island. She later learns that Edison is the town's librarian. The two MCs sort their differences and a sweet, B-plot romance ensues.
Meanwhile, Riley meets two local women whom she immediately feels a kinship with. Caroline is the snarky bartender and Alice is the introverted antiques dealer. Together, the three ladies discover they have the ability to harness and magnify Riley's powers, and so begin to assist some of the ghosts to move on.
There is a vague menace from the witches' past that is lurking around, which will no doubt be covered in the upcoming books of the series.
This book contains mildly descriptive love scenes.

This was a very cute, incredibly light and low-stakes read. Personally, I would have loved to know more about the magic and how our Riley came to know and understand her magic, as well as see more of her relationship with Edison and her friends. Things just kind of feel into place with a snap, and for that reason, it ended up not being a favorite of mine.
