*screams* this book was so addictingly good
It took me a while to get through this one but only bc I made the decision to start watching this little show called scandal about two days after I started reading this and it proceeded to take over my life for three weeks. But I’m recovered now and god bless bc this book was CRACK.
I AM SO OBSESSED WITH DANTE ITS RIDICULOUS THAT MAN IS SO SEXY AND FOR WHAT
I literally LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH. I can’t fully put into a review how totally obsessed with these two I am. This was the DEFINITION of boy obsessed and I am HERE FOR IT. I want a Dante so bad now. Is that too much to ask for?? The chemistry these two have is off the charts and oh my lord those spicy scenes were no joke

Amazing read that was a second chance romance and older brothers best friend. Nice mafia trope tied in and a truly dedicated MMC.
Demanding MMC who knows what he wants, nice spice, and plot.

This book actually was lowkey one of my faves in a long time - a few things made it drop a star but I’ll be honest, the reviews worried me a bit. I won’t spoil it, just don’t take these reviews as gospel.
The plot - straight off the bat, what do we say in my reviews because my go-to books are fucked up? CHECK YA DAMN TRIGGERS! There are talks of miscarriage and assault in this book, fairly detailed considering. Its a mafia forbidden love romance, brother’s best friend romance and a HEA. It did drag on for parts of it, but the rest was fast progressing and easy to digest. There were different sections of layout which made for a more interesting read actually.
The MC - Lilah will forever have my heart. She’s a lot like me actually, which made her more likeable. She’s got her insecurities, her hang ups, mental illness, trauma, but she can also be a badass when she wants to be and doesn’t take any shit. I love her, and I’m glad she got her HEA. What made this story drop a star was how Lilah’s brothers babied her. I hate that. She’s a grown ass woman, who can take care of herself. It was infantilising and gross.
The male counterpart - Dante is another good book boyfriend. Did I agree with all of his decisions? No. I did not. Was I happy for him to go about his life being all hot and shit? I’m only human, of course I was! Loved him, hated some of his decisions and actions, but fuuuck that man could get it. Amen.

First things first, let’s not beat around the bush, the spice is real in this book but it was PERFECT! Not to mention the storyline with the characters has you heavily invested! I finished it in less than 10 hours.
I need Cades story! I can’t wait for it to come out in October!

Booktok let me down with this one, honestly. A 2-star book but I’m gonna give it 3 because the sex scenes were pretty good.
What Makes It 3 Stars:
- the lead woman (Delilah) is whiny and immature and does nothing but give mixed signals up until the literal moment Dante proposes.
- every piece of Dante’s dialogue has him calling her “lamb” or “little lamb” or “my lamb”. It was cute the first few times, but he doesn’t need to say it every time he speaks to her. There’s also a lot of wolf references when it comes to him. Again, it was cool the first few times but the reader doesn’t need to be constantly reminded of the metaphorical wild relationship between them.
- the rival love interest is Delilah’s twin sister Izzy who also happens to be in love with Dante. The end of this book sets up the next book and hints at a romance between Izzy and Cade. This wouldn’t have been a problem if the author hadn’t made me absolutely hate Izzy.
You know how Booktok gives you snippets and quotes from the book to get you hooked? That’s what happened to me here.
- - - “This not your room, baby?” Allan stared at Dante, confused. “Sorry, man. If we were loud—”
“Quite frankly, she wasn’t loud enough. Considering I know exactly how she sounds when she wants someone to fuck her.” - - -
Yep, best scene of the entire book right there.

I serious would have loved this book if it wasn’t for the MFC. She was absolutely annoying and cringy the ENTIRE book. She ruined it for me . I love the depression troupe but she was just overly annoying. Lilah was weak and whiny and it drove me mad. I almost DNF’ed it. She made me not want to continue the series. We will see.
"Remember, when you come this hard and get this wet, it means you're getting fucked right. Remember not to ever settle."
DIRTY DANTE?!?? YES PLEASE. He can quite literally dirty talk to me all day, every day.
I loved the undercover government worker/not known mafia leader vibe!!! I did feel like there wasn't too much excitement around how dangerous it is for Delilah and the climax of the story towards the end wasn't as... threatening as I would have thought? If that makes sense
