Mmmkay. This is a really hard review to write. I personally wouldn't read this again, BUT I think it deserves 5 stars. The writing, execution, and story are phenomenal SO just because I didn't agree with some of the content and it wasn't my cup of tea, doesn't mean this book doesn't deserve 5 stars.
First of all, I LOVED the message of this book. Love is worth it.
I did not agree with the way the parents handled their divorce. I highly disagree. As someone who has studied trauma for years, the way that all went down is awful.
Lastly, I thought this was a romcom. Go ahead. Laugh. I know.
I personally can't handle sad books. They affect my mood way too much so I try to stay away... So with that being said, I was a sobbing mess.

Why do we love if not to feel everything.

This is YA for the romance-lover. I like Yoon's storytelling.

4,5/5

I loved all of Nicola Yoon’s previous books, so when I saw that she was releasing another one after so many years, I had to get it. Like all of her books, this one is centered around romance. Unlike all of her other books, there is a twist.

Evie has just suffered the divorce of her parents, and is stuggling to understand if love is worth the heartbreak. When she gives away her old romance novels, and finds a book called Instructions for Dancing, it leads her to a dance studio. There she meets Xavier, better known as X.

This story was not what I expected. It dod seem really corny at first, but I think the addition of magic really made the purpose of Yoon’s writing shine through. If you are planing on reading this, make sure you have tissues.

This is a bit hard to rate but I think I'll land on 3 stars for now. Might have to think about it some more. The story is powerful, but unfortunately the characters fell flat for me.

More thoughts on this later.

* I'm back. I guess I was a little underwhelmed. The premise had me intrigued but the execution was just okay. The twist, if we are calling it that, is not where I would have wanted the story to go.

Good but sad but also hopeful.
