Read this for Torchlight level 2, and...it was fine. Eight year olds will enjoy the story of adventure but are capable of much more complex stories and relationships. Rather one-note, where the note is: Being a GIRL doesn't mean you CAN'T!!!

Ich habe dieses Buch so oft gelesen, dass ich es nicht mehr zählen kann.
Es ist eins der Bücher, die ich immer und immer wieder lesen kann!

Enjoyable story, but not one of those incandescent childhood reads that you remember as an adult. I read this aloud to Everett. He really liked it. The main character, Igraine, is great. She is indeed brave, and athletic and active, a strong female but not in a self-conscious "I hate dresses" kind of way. She is simply a kind, strong human. I wish that more of the Sorrowful Knight's story had been explored.

Igraine is a very sweet book for kids. Igraine wants to be a knight, not a boring wizard like everybody else in her family, and she gets her wish – and has to save her family in the process. A bit saccharine in the general direction, possibly, but the execution borders on dry and is just generally sparking joy.

Caitlyn loved this. I thought it was a bit dull.

This was a cute story and well illustrated by the author. The main character is Igraine who knows a little magic and wants to be a knight. Her older brother, Arthur has learned magic and likes mice.

Her parents are magicians and keep the singing magic books safe. A new neighbor with his castellan want to seize the castle and steal the books.

Meanwhile a spell goes awry turning the parents into pigs. They need the red hair of a giant to break the spell. Igraine goes with her trusted stallion. She meets the giant and he gives her a lock of his hair as well as introduces her to a Knight who sighs because he has been dishonorable. He was supposed to guard three women but lost them to Rowan the castellan.

The two return to the castle and the adventure continues.

This was a very fun read-aloud. Both the 12yo & the 10yo approved.

Igraine comes from a family of magicians but she is not magically inclined. She wants to be a knight!
When the evil Osmund plans to take over their castle and steal the Books of Magic, Igraine gets her chance to prove her bravery.
This charming book is a must read to reinforce the idea that girls can be anything they want, including knights.
