I really wanted to love this, because I've been a huge fan of the series. But I had to put the book down in the third novella. I strongly disagree with the book's messaging about female sexuality and the value of being "innocent and untouched," as the book puts it. I have a big problem with equating a person's state of innocence or not innocence (i.e., guilt) with whether or not they have been the recipient of sexual touch. Messages such as this have the deep potential to instill shame in female readers—especially ones who are first learning about their own identity as a sexual being. And that message is even more destructive for victims of sexual assault, who didn't have a choice in whether they remained "untouched."

I couldn't finish the book after the scene in question, and I won't be back if more books are published in this series. And that makes me sad, since the author has created an imaginative, vibrant, and fascinating world.

Muchas gracias A.G.

though i had so much fun revisiting the splintered world, this collection of short stories merely acts as a filler to the little holes in the original books as well as extras. nevertheless, i still enjoyed reading about my faves alyssa, jeb, and morpheus. thomas and alison’s story was so bittersweet and so does jeb and alyssa’s too. morpheus, as always, never fails to crack me up. it was such a wonderful time reading it and i’m quite sad my journey with this series has come to its end. this series will forever hold a special place in my heart.

This book is a bitter-sweet ending to Splintered series :) it's both tragic and beautiful.

Really lovely to wrap up the series. Told from Alyssa's POV and her mother.

This companion was a colossal waste of time. Barely anything new was presented and a lot of restating things that were summed up in the last book. The writing was dull, especially the first novella of her parents. I don't feel the story benefitted from these stories. They were exactly what the reader was able to imagine themselves, that's how well they were covered in the 3rd book.
The ending frustrates me bc it is a very Twilight ending. Alyssa has her cake and eats it too. She gets both guys. No one's heart is broken. She gets the best of both worlds, mortal and netherling, living them full and happily. Each guy is understanding of the situation which is odd being that the previous novels show both of them being highly jealous. Alyssa's virginity places a huge role in these stores. She is viriginal for both husbands on their wedding nights (all thanks to her magic). Was this a point that needed to be expressed? Would Morpheus still have her if she was tainted by her marriage to Jeb? Just a frustrating piece of writing.
