I wanted to edit my review, because people kept liking the review and probably buying the book based off of it. Long-term, this book did not work for me. It didn’t really offer long term solutions, just short term tricks. Want something long term? "Just Eat It" by Laura Thomas.

Some helpful tips, but ultimately irresponsible

There are some valuable messages in this book: create a food plan designed specifically for YOU, beware those offering to help solve your binge problem ( what do they have to gain?), and you don't have to be perfect-watch all-or-nothing thinking. Except, the food plan guidelines provided in this book support eliminating and restricting foods and good groups and the whole premise is built on the idea that not following your food plan - even by a bite- it's a binge. So much for avoiding all-or-nothing thinking.

For people who struggle with binge eating, this book has a few nuggets that may be helpful, but the book is riddled with advice and attitudes that are pervasive in the diet culture that is at least partially responsible for the ever-growing epidemic of disordered eating.

Brain science has much to offer in the conversation of binge eating disorder recovery, but I recommend the works of Kathryn Hansen and Amy Johnson, Ph.D. Brain over Binge is a nice entry point for anyone interested in similar concepts that avoid harsh judgments and strict rules.

This book worked for me, but it is not for everyone. If you want a book focused on acceptance and self love, look somewhere else.

It reads like a late night infomercial. A lot of psychobabble.

The author is very honest and open about the concept of this book not being for everyone & I can understand why this methodology tends to appeal more to men than women - however, as a woman I have still found this a very interesting read. It has really helped me to understand how to recognise and ignore that voice in my head telling me I neeeeeeeded to binge (pig squeal). I'd definitely say its worth a read, be open minded & who knows, you may never binge again!

i read this book to fulfill the goal "read a non fiction book" I laughed, I cried. i can truly say it changed my life. I am not a Pig (a criminal monster who will do anything to get her next bite of food--not a cute barnyard animal) i do not eat pig slop. i will never binge again...(120 pg) by the way this book is free on Amazon, and it comes with a bunch of bonuses.
