I am clearly in the minority here, but this book was just not for me. It was way too long, seemed to take forever to finish. I think there was just too much going on for one book. Maybe the problem is that it's a bridge between two series and therefore has to try to fit into both and has to set things up for the rest of this new series, so it tackles too much?

It's an impressive feat when an author makes me like a heroine who has acted as a bit of a villain in a previous book. It's extra impressive when that heroine's story includes a pregnancy. However, it's a challenge author Sarina Bowen knocked out of the park with Alex, the heroine of 'Moonlighter.' Readers might remember Alex's poor behavior from Brooklynaire. However, her behavior was explained, and she redeemed herself in my eyes in Moonlighter.

This forced proximity, friends-to-lovers story was an entertaining addition to the Brooklyn Bruisers world. It also sets up a new series with The Company. There was an unresolved mystery to this one though, and I hope that's taken care of in a future book.

I loved everything about this story! I honestly didn’t want it to end!

This book had it all - a little bit of romance, espionage, comedy and oh ya... hockey! What more could you ask for. I wanted more.

Second time on audio - still a great story and wonderful narration.

This one was so preposterous it was fantastic. It honestly wasn’t even really about hockey, more of a spy and romance book. I was kind of annoyed that the main plot point just didn’t get resolved? But loved the characters.

I loved Eric & Alex

OK, don't hate me, but I haven't read majority of Sarina Bowen's hockey series. I know Moonlighter is book 1 in her spin-off series (of sorts), The Company. As someone who hasn't read the series that this is somewhat tied to, it's a complete standalone. Yeah, other characters are mentioned, but I wasn't confused at all by who was who.

I truly enjoyed this one! I enjoy a good hockey read like anyone else does. But I'm always curious about life outside of the rink. I kind of loved that this wasn't really a sports romance, how about we add on fake relationship and bodyguard trope. How do you like them apples?! OH, and childhood friends to lovers, talk about adorable.CHECK OUT THE REST OF MY REVIEW | HERE

4 Heroine Loving CROWNS

This was a really good novel. I love the premise, I enjoyed the characters. I LOVED that for once the business, rich, tech genius was the heroine.

There was something that stalled for me, though. I never truly connected with the characters. I didn’t really feel their chemistry outside of the bedroom. Surprisingly, since I didn’t feel the electricity between them, the steamy scenes are some of Sarina’s best.

The plot is unique, and I loved the crossover and the focus on what comes after. The writing, as always was incredibly well done in terms of style.

What is odd, and I can recognize this, is that I loved pieces of this book so much, but when it all came together, it didn’t spark. This is not to say others wont’t enjoy this book. I’m an avid Sarina fan. I’ll read anything she writes. This one just seems to have missed the mark for me.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review

I mistakenly took this book as being a whole new (separate) series, so I never made much effort to move it up the pile. WELL, after reading two new Bruisers books that directly link back to this one....I've learned my lesson. All Sarina Bowen books are interconnected EVEN IF YOU DON'T THINK THEY ARE.

My least favorite Bruisers book is still a delight and I enjoy any chance to get back into that world. I really enjoyed Eric and Alex together. Unfortunately they seem to spend big chunks of the story apart...for no real good reason. I liked them separately as well and it wasn't a hardship seeing what they dealt with individually, I just didn't get why they weren't together. Return the mans' phone call! We also had prime, "I have to have surgery but no one to pick me up and take care of me so could you? And let me stay at your place and oops I'll have to sleep in your bed" potential that was WASTED. WASTED. By the end, I was happy to see them together so I didn't care to nitpick over the practicalities. As usual, a fleshed out group of side characters that I'll be happy to see again.
