Every American should read this. A thorough report of the Jan 6 committee and the testimony and facts that were happening behind the scenes. I highly recommend the audio book, which provides recorded statements and testimony from many within the Trump administration. You may think you already know the story, but there are some shocking revelations here, and Liz fully examines the potential repercussions to our Constitution and democracy had Trump succeeded, and if he serves again. I have enormous respect for Liz Cheney, the whole Jan 6 Committee, and those who gave testimony, often at the risk of physical threats of violence to them and their families as well as harming their political and occupational prospects. There is much to be said about those who put personal gain second to standing for democracy, honor and simply doing the right thing. History will not reflect kindly on those who did not. Go listen to it now

Extremely well done and absolutely chilling.

Very informative read. While I don't agree with most of Cheney's policies, I will always respect and admire her willingness to to stand up against her own party to fight for our country.

What happened. Historical context. What is at stake. This book is clear and unwavering as a punctuation mark to Cheney’s service in Congress. It reads as it exists, a final fulfillment of her oath to defend the Constitution from its enemies. Liz Cheney’s work on the 1/6 Committee, and this book about that work, movingly subverts the adage that all politics is local. Cheney’s unwillingness to put party and authoritarianism ahead of her oath to the Constitution — to save her local seat in Congress — elevates a conversation about the rule of law and the future of the U.S. republic. This is the politics of democratic life itself, beyond local interests, the service of the self to a larger whole.

"Republicans cannot be both loyal to Donald Trump and loyal to the Constitution". I highly suggest the audiobook version

I don’t think I would have enjoyed this book as much if I used my eyeballs.  With actual recordings and Liz narrating I really enjoyed this memoir.  Liz manages to engage even during the more dry parts of this book.

While I will never agree with Liz on any other topic (and cringed when she was pro-Reagan and used the word communist in a derogatory way), I admire the work she put into the January 6th riots and insurrection.  She understood how important a peaceful transfer of power truly is, even if it cost her the rest of her political career.
