While Liz Cheney is not someone who I align with politically, her absolute dedication to doing what is morally correct and right by the people of the United States in the case of Jan 6th and Donald Trump, against a party of bullies, is incredibly admirable.
The details of what went on behind the scenes leading up to and after Jan 6th detailed thoroughly in this book are important for anyone wanting to discuss US politics to know and to have read. I greatly admire Liz Cheney, and I look forward to a time in the future where presidential candidate debates can be with republicans as well thought as she is.

Liz essentially says, we can survive another 4 years of bad policy, but we cannot survive a presidency with someone who does not respect the rules of democracy and upholding our republic. She says at another point in the book, Trump’s ability to insight extreme violence in others is not something we can risk for the next four years. She urges people to recognize that this year’s election is more than a vote on policy, but rather a vote on preserving the republic and protecting our democracy.
This book was a good but terrifying read. It’s a great book to keep in mind for this year’s election.

Never I all my days did I think I’d ever be a Liz Cheney fan. While I personally disagree with her on policy I have the utmost respect for her and commend her for putting country before party. Her book is a must read for Republicans, Democrats, Independents, or otherwise as it thoroughly outlines the events leading up to, during and after January 6th, 2021. Her unique insight as a member of Congress who was there that day along with her political views of the what the Republican Party has come to make for some interesting and eye opening reading. My hope is that the people who really need to read this do.
“Today, we must take Donald Trump’s statements literally. Trump has told us that he thinks the Constitution can and should be suspended when necessary, that what happened on January 6 was justified, and that in a second Trump presidency he would seek retribution. And much more. Some have suggested that ‘the normal US checks and balances’ of our Constitutional system would constrains Trump. They won’t.”
“If Trump is on the ballot, the 2024 presidential election will not just be about inflation, or budget deficits, or national security, or any of the major critical issues we Americans normally face. We will be voting on whether to preserve our republic. As a nation, we can endure damaging policies for a four-year term. But we cannot survive a president willing to terminate our Constitution.”
