I really don’t know what to think of this. It’s so different from any other Christie novel. Actual evil without a real mystery to solve… just weird and creepy. It’s very good, but did I like it?

Fantastic Gothic horror. Very strong character tropes (but possibly the originator of some of these considering when it was written). CW: difficult to read racist views of Romani people
Read this twenty years ago the first time and thought it was only an OK read. The plot was extremely eerie and disturbing upon finished reading the book.
Since "Endless Night" was one of Christie's own favorites, twenty years later I decided to give it another try. Sentiments remained unchanged. A psychological suspense novel, something distinctively different from other Christie's popular works. No sleuth works, nil puzzle-solving. Besides, none of the characters were likable. Although a nice, easy and satisfying read yet the story was not my cup of tea. Too gothic, too disturbing... And the first 70% of the book was read more like a soapy romance work.

A very different kind of book from Agatha Christie. The theme was borrowed from one of Miss Maples stories but it deserved a full book.

A very slow beginning with an annoying narrator, but Agatha pulls it together at the end!
After having finished it, it took me a couple of days to digest what I'd just read. It's masterful novel and remarkable for Christie in many ways: the main character is working class (and Christie writes about him convincingly!) and there are two great twists at the end, one of which completely caught me off guard; could not see it coming at all.
Other than that, it's a fascinating look into the nature of man - juxtapositioning good and evil, or as the novel puts it, sweet delight and endless night.
I really enjoyed every aspect of it - the plot, the characters, and the setting. 4.5/5

Wow! Ok...where do I start? I think Endless Night might now be my favorite Agatha Christie novel! It's hard to write a review sometimes because you're still grappling with the ending. This story was full of red herrings & one twisty ending that I never saw coming!
Just go read it. That's all I can say. Just go read it for yourself & you'll see what I mean.
