What makes this book good, in my opinion, is the mystery of course. And the relationship between Frances and two of the male characters. Also, it was to see what she would do at the end of her "revenge."

At first, I couldn't read it because it reminded me of the show Revenge and that show just goes on and on and it gets annoying, but I finally decided to pick up this book again and it pulled me in. The mystery, the character and the way Frances dealt with things and how she tried to figure out who she was and so much depth in her character.

Last but not least, there are so many sayings in this book that you can apply to your life, to your reality is what makes me enjoy it. Whether you go through anything these characters go through or you go through something that might not be worse or the same, whatever it is you can apply it to your life and work with it to make it help your reality.

A quick, surprisingly fun read. I found this at the thrift store and picked it up to stuff in one of my local Little Free Libraries and accidentally read it. I'd definitely rate it higher for a teen reader - it's a fantastic example of what YA is, plenty of drama and excitement and things that would never go so well in real life. I'd hand it to any younger teen looking for fast-paced thrillers about revenge. Adults won't be nearly as satisfied unless you are willing to completely suspend your disbelief. It's very easy to poke holes in if you stop and thinking about it for a split second.

Finished at 5:19am I just wanted it done. The writing and characters were ok but the story wasn't for me at all. Not saying the book is bad but I just didn't enjoy it. Sorry!

First, this book took me forever simply because I was listening to it on audiobook even though I own the physical copy. (I really enjoyed the narrator on another book and had to get rid of some Audible credits.) It was a pretty good book. There were some amazing lines throughout. I haven't read anything by Carrie Ryan before (even though I own her other series...) but I liked her style. The ending felt rushed, but you'll get that with most standalone, but the characters are well-developed. Overall, this was a good read.

This book had a great premise, a great plot line, and good intrigue. However, it had a number of weak points as well that weakened the believability of the story. Things that were not explained, things that were overlooked, and things that just weren’t realistic. Overlooking those (which was difficult for a large majority of the book) the story had an intensity that kept me wanting to find out the ending.

I just love Carrie Ryan's story telling. I am also really happy that this is a stand alone story.

This broke my heart so many times. The friendships, relationships, enemies, and everything in between I absolutely loved. I flew threw this, beginning half I listened to the amazing audiobook, and the second half I read it physically. It’s so addicting and kept me up all night reading.

This book was an OK read for me. it wasn't a "Can't put it down" experience.
The premise was good. The characters so so.
Maybe if they have been 18 at the time of the ship massacre and not 14, it would have been better for me?
We have kids that are 14 years old professing love and... I just couldn't.
Not that at 14 you can't love someone. It also does feel serious at the time. But, they all had pretty strong feelings that I just didn't buy it.
Libby and Shepherd. Frances and Greyson. At least Libby knew Shep for years.
Frances knew Grey for 2 weeks and had these feelings.
Grey's father (from what we saw) was so one dimensional.
There was a lot of talking about how Frances/Libby positioned herself, her goosebumps, breath and breathing, etc...
2.5 stars.

7/19/16:
This was a book I was super excited to read, and I went into it expecting awesomeness. Perhaps that was the reason I was so disappointed, but even then, this book is just so mediocre it’s infuriating.

From the premise, excitement is ignited with the promise of a strong, awesome heroine. Un-likable, flawed characters are extremely popular nowadays, and I admit that I myself find them to be the best kind of character. However, Frances Mace, while appearing strong at first, quickly proves to be moody, helpless, and worst of all, obsessed with making out with the guy who most definitely had a role in the brutal murder of her entire family. Her transformation from revenge-obsessed, kick-ass heroine to love struck, useless female happens in those pages in between the inside cover and the first chapter, and I was thoroughly unamused.

The rest of the characters were pretty cardboard-cutout, the love interest most of all. The way I know this book was unmemorable is the fact that although I read this book just a few weeks ago, I couldn’t remember most of the characters’ names.

The plot was okay, not particularly engaging, but not bad either. In fact, it’s probably the reason I finished this book at all. However, no matter how good the plot may be, Frances’ ridiculous actions/personality bring the whole thing down.

Overall, Daughter of Deep Silence is a book with potential ultimately sunk by a terrible, terrible main character. I’m not sure who I’d recommend this to, but overall, it’s not a bad choice for a fast read you can forget soon after.
