I enjoyed this. It was a fun, easy read. Yes, there were parts that were predictable but it really didn't bother me. I enjoyed the story quite a bit.
The main thing I had an issue with was Grateful's hormones. I'm no stranger to sex in books, I've read all of Laurell K Hamilton (thus far) and absolutely love it, I just found the way it was portrayed in this book a little irritating, I'm not sure why.

I'm planning on continuing this series for sure.

A GREAT read!! I loved the characters and the plot and after the way this one ended I cannot wait for book two!!! Holy crap! New fan of Genevieve Jack!

Side Note: Due to a few steamy scenes not intended for young readers.

I really quite enjoyed this book. That's despite it being told in the first person present tense, which I generally hate and involving both a love triangle and insta-lust, which usually drive me crazy. The book somehow managed to overcome all of its handicaps and provide an enjoyable read. And it did it with surprising ease.

The magic irritation-nullifying ingredient? Humour. The Ghost and the Graveyard is funny. Yes, yes it's hot and steamy too, but that wouldn't have been enough to overcome my dislike for the parts that make up its whole. I needed Grateful's quick wit and sarcastic internal monologue for that. She's a great heroine. She manages to stay strong and sure of her own sense of self in the face of some fairly severe identity shake-ups. She might have gone weak at the knees in the face of Rick and his awesome sex appeal, but she was never weak-willed. I respected that.

Rick was a surprisingly complex hero. He was simultaneously strong and fragile, loyal and of a little untrustworthy. I'm sure (in my own imaginings) that there will be a lot more to him and his backstory in the future books. I liked Lucas too. He was like a lost puppy, but I was a little tired of his whinging by the end of the book.

I was a bit disappointed that the book didn't quite wrap up by the end. Don't get me wrong it ended OK, but only one small part of the larger whole was solved. There were a lot of loose threads about. I'm always left wanting when that is the case. It's a shame the next book isn't out yet.

I hated this book. The main character is annoying. I'm also not a big fan of the - I need blood and sex to be strong thing. This book isn't realistic either. So the MC just learns how to wield her magic after trying once or twice, and she's doing kick flips and hacking centuries old vamps with swords with no damn training. Yeah yeah, I know she took hapkido but so did I and it's mostly soft techniques where you use the aggressors momentum against them. There is no bad ass sword wielding kick flips learned in hapkido even at the highest levels. Also, there are too many unanswered questions in this book, so many things that needed to be wrapped up before it ended. This book wasn't written poorly but it wasn't written great either. I know I'm ranting and there is minimal organization to this review but this book is like that too. Read this book only if you need to pass time, it is free and it should stay that way. It's not even worth 99 cents.

Finished Reading September 15, 2013

2.25 Stars.
Book Rejected.
Some parts were interesting but others were Weird
Story never seemed to get it's self together.
About 300 pages of going nowhere and then ended on a cliffhanger.
Pissed Me Off!
I needed Something! that this just didn't give.
Weird story that could have been awesome and ended up making me feel like I was cheated.

A perfectly okay read.

I wasn't overly impressed with this book, but I also didn't hate it. Grateful is just about the most ridiculous name you can give a main character, and I'm usually fine with quirky names but this one is a bit of a mouthful. She is a nurse, which is repeated quite often and supposed to be something of an important character trait... But she seems so incredibly dumb with all of her decisions. Some interesting pseudo-science rumblings in the beginning made me side eye but I continued on.

I was expecting a much more proactive protagonist, as the cover gave me the impression that we would be leaning more towards the Buffy side of the spectrum, but that's fine. I wish she had been more decisive and in control of herself, but I can totally understand being swallowed by all of the shit she had just dumped on her head.

I have a huge issue with how no one in her life ever gives it to her straight, though. Her father kept huge things from her, her supposed "husband"/"soulmate" man also deliberately keeps things from her while trying to seduce her, and then you have the ghost who gets weirdly posessive and attached (ghost sex!).

A lot of plot points came and went with little build up and little elaboration, but generally it wasn't hard to follow the clues the author was putting down. It was a little predicable because of that, but predicable isn't always bad.

Overall, the book wasn't horrible. The writing was consistent and I didn't feel it slogged in any places. I just don't know that any of the characters appeal to me enough to continue reading the rest of the series.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Charmed, with a narrative tone similar to that of Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series.

Great!

Love it. Can't wait to read more. Honestly, I would love to see this as a movie. I got so immersed in the characters that I would find myself wishing to be there.

This was a pleasant surprise. I didn’t have high expectations for this one but I throughly enjoyed listening to this complex story today. I don’t know if I like Rick or Logan yet but I’m definitely going to continue this series and see what happens.
