Almost 2 ⭐ but I'm not feeling really generous today.
Cash is dumb as fuck and Glenna is not better.

Cate C. Wells has some kind of insane hold on me at the moment. I’m not sure what she puts in her writing but I am 100% hooked. This story wasn’t perfect but omg I had a good time. I am also a sucker for the black cat and golden retriever dynamic which this book had in spades.

Cash is one of the biggest, if not the biggest himbo I’ve ever read about, goddamn he was stupid and it was so ridiculously endearing. He pines for Glenna so hard and it just added to the hilarity of it all and also made it impossible for me not to love him. I also liked Glenna’s character. She was a bit of a wallflower but she really grew a backbone over the course of the book and totally made Cash work for it which I really appreciated. I can’t decide if I love this more than the previous book or not but either way it’s a five star read.

I would recommend it if you love a huge himbo, a lot of grovelling and a bucketload of pining.

I loved Glenna and Cash. they felt like authentic people. I'm a southerner and they felt like people I grew up when going to high school and in my 20s. it's a great book and don't overthink it just because the hero is a redneck. it's really not that complicated.

Okay, I get it now.

This book has been recommended on Reddit over and over again for about a year now, but I couldn't bring myself to read it because the back tattoo of the cover model kind of gives me the ick. Which, I realized, was a tad shallow of myself.

Anyways, the rumours are true! Cash Wall is the ultimate himbo hero. I genuinely didn't think I could like a character who unironically had truck nuts hanging from his pick up truck, but here we are.

I've read a couple by Cate C. Wells, and you need to be a skilled writer to write such flawed characters and still make them likable and relatable. Perfect is boring anyways, and this book reminded me how there's often more that lays below the surface; just like in real life. People are multifaceted and are rarely exactly what we make of them on the first impression. It's a nice reminder.

This is not the type of romance novel I read; the male love interest is a hunting Southern boy who, reading between the lines, probably doesn't vote for Trump because he probably just doesn't vote. But I was in a very specific reading mood and while this didn't fulfill that itch, it was certainly something different. And I didn't hate it. But I probably wouldn't recommend it either. Dunno.

I don't usually read bully romances, but this was recommended by a few friends and it ended up being just the read my heart needed. There isn't a ton of heavy lifting and I thought the more emotional moments were balanced well with humor. The writing and dialogue was cringy at times, but overall this was an entertaining read.

The reasoning behind the bullying felt understandable to a degree and it didn't hurt that Cash was 100% gone for the heroine. I'm not sure if I've ever read a romance where the MMC was so clearly a himbo. Cash means well and has a big heart, but boy does he stick his foot in his mouth a lot. lol I enjoyed the progression of things between Cash and Glenna (enemies to fake dating to more) and the build up was so good. There is a questionable drunken consent scene, but I appreciated that the author had our characters talk it out afterwards and establish that there was clear consent. Glenna frustrated me a bit at the end, but I could understand her confusion and why she felt so conflicted given her history with Cash. The ending was very sweet though and the epilogue had me smiling ear to ear.
