what. in. the. world????? coho does it again. a masterpiece once again. verity has officially put me into the rabbit hole of thrillers. this book is unlike anything i’ve ever read. it’s something i found so eye opening to look into other genres. i lack the words for this book. truly. you have to read it to understand but let me tell you, reading it will not be a mistake. i don’t think you’ll ever get me to shut up about this book.

I finally understand the hype and outrage that surround this book and I have to say that it is 100% earned! Had I not expected the ending to be all kinds of frustrating before going into this, I probably would have thrown my kindle at the wall when I finished it. However, thanks to the heads up I received from the readers that came before me, I literally LOLed in admiration of the genius of that last sentence. Now, I will admit that this was probably one of the most MESSED UP books I’ve ever read (TRIGGER WARNINGS EVERYWHERE), but I also read it in two sittings. So, well played Hoover. Well played. *slow claps*

I don't tend to read non-BIPOC stories these days but this one was getting a lot of hype in some of my reading groups. I cut my teeth on paperback thrillers and romances so I figured, if nothing else, I was in for a bit of nostalgia.

Y'all, this book was so disappointing. The suspense was not supensing, the thriller did not thrill, and the constant sex scenes were offputting because they were so bland. I felt like Hoover wrote this for the funds, not for the feels.

This book could be a good entry point for people who want to start reading more. It is fast paced and will keep the pages turning, I would not recommend this to more seasoned readers.

I absolutely loved this book! I haven't read a book in a while that I literally just could not put down, but from the second I picked this book up, I just had to keep reading it! This book was a whirlwind of amazing, and I definitely did not expect the story to go where it went. The only reason this book is not a 5-star read for me was simply just the pretty graphic inappropriate scenes that I don't feel were necessary to the plot or added much to the story itself. Other than that, this book was amazing!
