Demon You Love is a story that I assumed would be your typical romantic suspense/revenge story when I first started reading it. Those are two things that may still be used to describe it, but what I got was so much more than that. L. A. Fiore's writing is phenomenal, and she crafted a story that was much more complex than my initial assumption. It's about following your dreams, overcoming your past, the importance of letting love into your life, and maybe more than anything, family.

Anton and Piper are both relatable characters that will undoubtedly steal your heart within the first few pages. They were dealt a shitty hand in life, but what they do with it is nothing short of impressive. Some may have given up, but that's just not in them. These characters are broken but strong. They not only fight for themselves but for the people they love. Anton and Piper didn't just make the best out of what they were given, they obliterated their own expectations, achieved things that they never thought possible, and helped others to do the same.

The romance in this book is refreshing in more ways than one. There were no stupid arguments over miscommunications, because they *shocker lol* actually talked things out.  They listened to each other's opinions and took one another's concerns seriously without throwing their pride into the mix. Anton and Piper are both strong individuals that aren't afraid to be vulnerable in front of each other. They never worry that opening up will make them appear weak. The respect and love they have for one another is evident throughout the story, and because of that, there is no unnecessary drama. I can't tell you how great it was to read about a couple that wasn't constantly getting in their own way.

Demon You Love is my first read by L. A. Fiore, but it's the second book in the Lost Boys series. You can certainly read this book without reading the first one, but I would advise against it. I obviously enjoyed the story, but I can't help but think I would have loved it even more if I knew more about the history of all of the characters. Either way, definitely give this book a try if it peaks your interest. It's a well written, sexy romance with complex characters that will surprise you with their strength, vulnerability, and rationale.

Romantic suspense fans and romance readers that need a break from angst, this one's for you!

DEMON YOU LOVE is the second book in the Lost Boys series. I haven't read the first book yet but I'd recommend it because several of the secondary characters play a pivotal role and I think it would fill in some of the backstory. Though, it can still stand alone!

Anton Scalene is a charming, savvy businessman who owns a thriving restaurant/club. But his life hasn't always been so easy. Anton clawed his way to success from the very dark and dangerous underbelly of his childhood. He's still trying to extract himself from his past and he doesn't need a distraction like Piper. She's a young waitress just trying to care for her family and dreaming of becoming a dancer. Meeting Anton is a distraction she doesn't want yet neither Anton or Piper can resist the pull to the other.

Really, I could kick myself for not having read book one not only because I think it could have added more to this story but also because I love the characters that are Anton's family. And oh my goodness, let's talk about the enigmatic Anton for a moment! From the outside, he was simply a brooding bad boy wrapped in an expensive suit. But as the pieces of his life are revealed and as his romance with Piper blossoms, he becomes so. Much. More. Anton was my favorite kind of hero...the ANTI-HERO! An alpha who could take charge and kick ass with a marshmallow center and a heart of gold for his lady love. SWOON! Plus, Piper was such a strong character...loyal, sweet, loving, almost innocent. Anton often mentioned Piper's "light" and I couldn't agree more.

This was a hugely character driven story and I adored that! But if you also enjoy some suspense and mystery with your romance, you'll truly appreciate this book. Told from dual POVs with a happy ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

It started a little slow and dark but then we saw Anton and Piper interact....WOWZER!! There is no denying their sexual chemistry, their amazing hearts, or their need to fight for family. Neither of them had traditional childhoods or families but their love for those around them jumped off the page. The mystery continues from Book 1 but this story (for me) was more about Anton and Piper finding their other halves to balance the life they have.

Un libro un poquito más oscuro que la primera parte. Me gustó mucho, aunque creo que le faltó algo más. No vi venir para nada quién era el "malo", así que eso ya es grato, siempre es bueno sorprenderse.
Anton sufrió tanto, y cosas tan horribles. No es un personaje fácil, pero logró encontrar su equilibrio.

I am sitting here trying to decide just how to word this review..... I find myself struggling with putting into words just how beautifully written this heart wrenching hero is.

Anton was born into a world that truly was like living in hell. He did what he needed to do to survive. He has built a life for himself, but yet feels so alone. There is nothing Anton would not do for those he cares about. As you will find out when you read this outstanding book. He loves with his whole heart, and gives with everything he has. When the time comes he has no second thoughts about his decisions about Piper. He jumps in with his eyes wide open knowing just what the end game was gong to be.

When he spots Piper there is something about her that just calls to him. Piper is a young lady that has dreams, but has put them on hold to do what is right for her family. When the time comes Piper finally decides she is going to do what is right for her. She is stronger than she thinks and she proves this point time and time again. She was perfect for Anton, because there is no judgement from her when it comes to him.

Neither Anton or Piper have never really had a family so their friends are what makes up their crazy family tree. As you will learn on this book blood does not always mean family. The secondary characters helped this story along. Laney is quirky and has no qualms about speaking whatever is on her mind. Candice is a different story. I won't go into great detail on her...

L.A. Fiore has this innate ability to suck you into her books right from the start and just doesn’t let go; not that you would ever want to, not till the end. I experienced this with [b:Devil You Know|33360090|Devil You Know (Lost Boys, #1)|L.A. Fiore|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1485196600s/33360090.jpg|54100218] (Read My Review) and the experience has only expounded with Demon You Love.

With Demon You Love, L.A. Fiore has created one of the most brilliant, awe inspiring heroes I have ever had the pleasure of falling for – Anton Scalene is a man with one of the roughest starts – born and abandoned in alley and at the mercy of the worst human beings – he was considered an object, a possession; he didn’t even have a name. But he had the will to live, a will to survive and a fire for vengeance. He was patient, bided his time and made himself into the man no one ever crossed – he was strong, resilient; but better than most, he was powerful. He scrimped and saved and made himself a family he was proud to be a part of; yet he was still alone. His loneliness never bothered him, until he saw how happy his best friend was with his little family.

Still he wasn’t actively doing anything to counter his loneliness… until he met Piper.

“My demons molded me; her innocence molded her.”

Piper is a woman with dreams. No matter what obstacles life threw in her way; she never forgot to dream. Young by age; wise by experience –
she was everything Anton didn’t even know he was missing – warm, kind, thoughtful and compassionate; Piper had a light in her that attracted Anton to her right from the start.

For Piper, Anton seems like another dream – a strong, protective man; she is *definitely* attracted to, and seems to be the only one who can see beyond his scary, dominant exterior to the loving man underneath.

“It’s impossible because a demon has no business falling in love with an angel.”

This is the slow burn romance that I didn’t even know I needed in my life – and the fact that it is intermingled with suspense in a way that can be only be called perfection. I will not go into the detail about the plot because spoilers
(you have no idea how hard it is for me to stop myself from spoiling the story for ya’ll!) – But if you love a brilliant anti – hero you can’t help but fall for and a woman who is his anti – thesis yet they somehow manage to shine – then Demon You Love is for you!

Don’t think. Just pick it up!

When dark romance is done well, you forget that the character is a killer, or a mafia hitman, or a sex worker, because you are so engaged in the story. This is a special talent of L.A. Fiore. You like Anton. A lot. And, well, while you understand where he is coming from, and his motives, they are not exactly on the "right" side of the law and, well, he is not what you would call a "good" guy.

Or is he? Is he someone who is honest about his moral code; who does what he thinks he should, and who protects the people he sees as important?

Well, Piper sees him as the second, and so does the reader. You are on his side, and you like him, and you want the relationship between Anton and Piper to work because you like him, and you want her to end up with him, and to get all of her dreams, because you really like the both of them, and you like them as a couple.

Some books are difficult to review without spoilers, and this is definitely one of them. It's intricate, it's well crafted, it has depth and layers...it's complex and you are engaged from page one. So, while I am not able to tell you what happened in the book, or why I liked it as much as I did (with specifics) I am able to say this is a book you want to read.

I promise.

I enjoed and recommend this title.

L.A. Fiore creates some of the most beautifully broken heroes I have ever come across!! Anton stole my heart right from the start and held on so tight that even though I'm at the end of his story, he still won't let go. And I don't want him to!!

So who is Anton? A man who is loving and protective and successful and generous and beautiful and sexy and simply amazing. A man who scraped and clawed his way from the gutter. Born and abandoned in an alley, he grew up without a name. He was an object, a possession, something to be passed around with absolutely no regard for his wellbeing. He was alone and desperate, but a fire burned within him. It raged to escape his beginnings, to right the wrongs done to him and so many others. He bided his time and took back what little he had of his life. He grew into someone he always dreamed of - no longer worried about what he'd eat or where he'd sleep. He'd found a family to call his own, friends to rely on, and a lifestyle that suited him. But he was still alone... until Piper.

Piper was all that Anton envisioned as beautiful and pure. She was young, but her soul was wise. She was kind and warm and real. She was everything he was searching for without really looking. She was perfection, at least for sweet Anton. She always dreamed of being a dancer and her dreams were just about to come true, but with a new man in her life, her dreams expanded to include him. With Anton, she realized that dreams really do come true.

I loved these characters so much! I admired how the author made Anton shine and how his glow only brightened when he became involved with Piper. I also loved how easily Piper saw beyond his facade, seeking and touching the man so very few were allowed to see. And how even when his darkness came to the surface, she never feared him or questioned him or doubted him. Not once.

She'd just seen the demon under the gentleman, and she still looked at me with love in her eyes.

Together, these characters explored a tale full of pain and so much loveliness that I never wanted it to end. They made my heart feel so full and were quickly added to my list of favorites. Reading this story, it's very easy to see why Fiore tops my list of must-read authors!!
