Something about this just wasn't for me. On paper, the synopsis, the themes, all looked good. Sometimes I'd get upset I wasn't enjoying it more, especially since the book had some fantastic poetic lines thrown in. But the baroque prose often made me cringe, and I found it difficult to take the characters seriously, or to see or root for the love between them. I'm sorry!!!! I really wanted to like it!!!! I think a person who enjoys whimsical prose would like it more. It might just not be for me.

This book was so meh I only managed to get as far as I did because I had the audiobook on while I was driving and couldn’t do anything else. Felt like reading a book for school because everything had to be a metaphor
