I didn't really enjoy this sequel.
I found myself to be a bit annoyed with Cass. She was both so depressed over Kip and yet also mad so it made me a bit confused how I was suppose to feel about the situation. Especially as I learned more about Kip
I also felt like the author was pushing for another new love interest a bit soon. I like Piper and I think he could be good for Cass but it's way to soon for another love interest right now.
I found the idea of looking for elsewhere and the ark to be a bit repetitive from the last book since it was still looking for something.
I don't know I'm just not very happy with this book I guess. It's definitely a low 3 star for me.

The story hold my attention, and it's fun to read, but I feel like it's lacking something that I can't put my finger on. I feel like some of it is going through the motions, story-wise. Like there wasn't time to fill in all the little details, and it's more like an outline in parts. But I still need to know what happens! An enjoyable read, but I've yet to be fully engrossed by it.

The Map of Bones picks up right where The Fire Sermon left off. It is even more intriguing, there's even more mystery and even more horrifying acts taking place in this iconic Alpha - Omega world.
Loaded with revelations, I cannot wait for the next book and I know Francesca is going to BLAST my expectations out of the water(sorry!).

This book was amazingly real in so many ways. I'm sure there will be reviews about how depressing or how the story is not going in the direction they want. And I get that, but I feel like I'm getting what the author is going for and I'm along for the ride. This book stripped some things raw and I'm sure it made many ppl either scratch their heads or become very uncomfortable.
This book has left me with a need so deep to see this through. I need this holocaust to be over, either for her or for all of them. I have a feeling this will be another allegiant. And I'm ready for it. I just need it to happen soon.
Kip, I've learned so much from you. And the worst? From your absence. Piper, I don't know where this is going but I hurt for you either way. Zoe has never been stronger and yet never been more at risk. All these faults you are working through, Cass, you could be nothing more than human. But in the long run, how could Zack end up anywhere else? How could you make this better unless you were ended? I grieve for you all even as you are still alive enough to tell your story.

This was a solid 4 for me! It kept me entertained and always wanting to know what would happen next. The book tackles a lot. Solid middle book. More things got explained and still have questions that I'm sure the last installment in the trilogy will answer. Omegas and Alphas. The tension is real the social injustice is real and it's sickening too.
I struggled a little with Cass' survivor's guilt throughout the book. At the same time seeing her get torn apart by her visions was rough. I can't wait to see how the knowledge that her visions are visions and not memories shapes her. I'm glad that finally she's disconnected in a way from her twin. She wants to live for her! Woooh!
Piper piper piper. The tension is there. I wonder if at all if his relationship with Cass will develop into a romantic one. I hope it will I think they do a good job at depending on one another in different ways. I also love the protective feel he has towards her.
Zoe!! I'm so happy she didn't leave. She kicks major butt all day. I couldn't imagine the trio being separate and I think her and Cass need some girl friends lol.
The ending truly left me on a bit of a WHAT NEXT... feel. Ready to know more about Elsewhere and how the gang is going to save it...hopefully.

Gah, so GOOD!!! A hugely powerful and emotional sequel to THE FIRE SERMON. I was a mess of emotions through most of it, and now I don't know where to start! To say the least, the action was ramped up and the drama was high, but this was just such a good story. The twists, the alliances, the heartache, the set up for the final book, the absolutely stellar final page and ending paragraphs. I LOVED IT!!! Favourite characters were back and better than ever, and I loved how Cass dealt with everything thrown her way. She reacted in a believable fashion, but never gave up hope, and at the end, began to cope with her grief. Seriously, I can't get over how great this book was. The writing is absolutely beautiful with descriptions and lines that will leave you breathless and stunned. There's no cliffhanger, but I honestly cannot wait to dive into the third book. AMAZING!!!

Good sequel to The Fire Sermon, with development of characters and relationships. A very good exploration of grief and depression. The first half was a little slower than the first book, but picked up towards the end. Really enjoying the development of the mythos around the twinning, Seers and Elsewhere.
Really keen for #3 now.
Spoiler
Plus I really ship Cass/Zoe - I knew well before Cass did that Zoe was gay, because yeah, the lady doth protest too much.Really keen for #3 now.

After finishing The Fire Sermon last year, I was desperate to get my hands on The Map of Bones, and I dove right in as soon as possible. We pick up this story after the events of the previous book, and I think this is where I had my first problem.
The Fire Sermon was amazing, and I raved about it, but going into The Map of Bones I did struggle to remember who some of the secondary characters were, and tried to recall some of the events that had happened. The world of The Map of Bones is just as devastatingly beautiful as it previously was, the characters that I knew were just as I remembered them, but I found it really hard to read this book.
There were several moments that I LOVED, seeing how far Cass has come and how much she has grown on this journey she takes with friends and allies. I loved the idea behind the story, and the final aim for this book, I loved the battle scene and how things unfolded. The last few chapters had me on tenterhooks, worried over the fate of a few characters, and the ending was not something I expected.
However I did occasionally struggle with how long the journey took to get somewhere, or for a new event to unfold. I also struggled with how big the book actually was, you could use it as a door stop it's that big, and big books do scare me, especially if I can see the pages and how long I have left.
Final Verdict
Overall The Map of Bones was a mixed book for me. I think I would have handled it better going in straight after The Fire Sermon, and I'm thinking that the next book may need a full re-read of the series.
