This is one of the more creative and fascinating stories I've read in a while, and one of the best children's or middle years stories I've ever read. The story is actually two stories in one, or, as the title says, is about The Neverending Story. The story line and characters are rich and imaginative, and leaves the reader with many philosophical concepts to ponder, without beating the reader over the head with them as some other stories do. As i completed the book, i was left with warmness in my heart and a feeling of awe and wonder. It is not often that a story can nestle itself within your heart, but this one certainly did for me. I loved it, and am so thankful for my daughter's persistence in getting me to read it. Thanks sweetie :)

I've never seen the film and my sister and I like the Limahl song and I said we should watch the film. And then thought wait I should read the book first. Checked if my library has it and 12 days later, 10 hours of reading, I did just that. And it was a great read. I laughed, I cried (specifically when he left Graógramán, that somehow had me bawling) and I admired the world building.
There is so much happening in this I don't know how they made it into a 90 minute film but I'm excited to find out soon.
Someone tell me the English translation also has the first letter of each chapter be the alphabet because even though it took me until Z to realise, it brought me so much joy when I did.
Disappointed that they chose to make a cover that doesn't look anything like the cover described in the book. Why would they do that??

Maybe the most heart-wrenching, close-to-home story about redemption I know.
The end, when Atreyu.
Such an unflinching and compassionate portrayal of Bastian as you seldomly see with main characters. Super-sad, yet it give you hope. One of my all-time favourite stories.

vouches for Bastian and promises to resolve the threads he left open makes me cry, every single time. It's very well described how supremely heart-warming this is over at TvTropes :,-)Such an unflinching and compassionate portrayal of Bastian as you seldomly see with main characters.
