Thoughts: Great read, loved this!

The characters in this book are very cringe. I don’t believe there was really any buildup into the romance. The dialogue is overall very cringe. I tried to keep going, but the book really didn’t keep my interest. I thought it was really weird that the MMC decided to go to the FMC’s hometown to basically asked if he could pursue her in a way after like a month of knowing her without actually establishing a relationship with her.

Loved sweet Tate!
emotional funny hopeful lighthearted medium-paced

As it’s indie, I’m not going to comment on the writing aspects that pulled me out frequently but I will say that exclamation points in thoughts just… shouldn’t be done.

*SPOILERS*

My major points of contention:

1. Insta-love within seconds from Dex. Didn’t know the girl from Adam, she’s a stranger looking after his kids, and suddenly he wants her forever. It also pains me when a man is so clearly written by a woman. The best authors make you forget that. Dex spoke and thought like a woman, I couldn’t get past it.

2. The constant back and forth with staying. At one point I almost threw my kindle when she said “he hasn’t actually asked me to stay” when I have read him say those words a nauseating amount of times. A NAUSEATING AMOUNT.

3. A SENATOR, running for office, BROKE a woman’s ARM because she pointed out that his son was a bully to the school? And then they just never talked about it again?!?

4. The friends constantly being around and showing up out of nowhere at the most convenient times really bothered me.

The plot itself held an excellent promise, but the story could have been finer tuned. I could have really enjoyed it with some tweaking.

3.5 Entertaining and sweet but a little over the top at times. Lanie- the new nanny whose had it rough with an alcoholic mom and being abused. Dex- father of three whose ex left him with the kids who falls hard for the new nanny. Love the friendships in the book- Preston, Trevor, Loki and Jules. And all the westbrooks and Jules family! And 6 year old Tate stole the show!!!

Lanie and Dex’s story was an emotional, suspenseful journey and they helped each other heal from their pasts. I loved the way Lanie was protective of Dex’s kids and how he was patient and gentle with her because of her past. I enjoyed their flirty banter and all the grand gestures he did to gain her trust. The narration from Tim Paige and Sophie Daniels was great and I’m looking forward to hearing more from them in the rest of this series.

3.5⭐️

Single dad meets nanny who is sassy and has a past of verbal/mental/physical abuse. Great banter, great friends, lots of emotion. Had me crying all over myself.

So I actually didn’t finish this book but the 30% I did wasn’t necessarily bad. I just did not like the writing style. I’m not sure if all her books are like this but it did not flow at all. Also, the banter between the mmc and fmc felt forced to me. I did not feel any genuine chemistry between them
I probably could get through it if I tried and skip some things but I don’t want to make myself power through it. If you like kids though, tate stole my heart in the few pages that I read
