I loved the female lead in this book women in STEM I resonated with her so well. She was very smart and cautious and she took her time in her relationship until she was sure and felt ready. But I felt like she deserved better.

The male lead Daniel was basically selfish. He knew that getting involved with her would end in tears then he went on to encourage the relationship, his job was important to him yes acknowledge that but so was hers. He should have never put her in a position that would jeopardise her career that wasn’t fair. He was full of excuses for me I checked out the moment he asked her to be friends after they made out the previous day. Like he just wanted to keep having access to her despite knowing how they both felt that hurts man.

Samiah is paving the way in the Tech industry. She is successful, independent, fierce, and being cat-fished by her loser boyfriend. Will she find love with the help of her two new friends? The Boyfriend Project is a fast-paced, slow-burn romance that will have readers laughing out loud. Rochon expertly describes the sexual tension between Samiah and Daniel. Slowly working toward the exquisite release when they finally collide. Romance is not the only theme in this book, mystery and attempted murder give the plot anticipation that makes the romance feel real and tangible. Rochon lays out Daniel's assignment perfectly to how Samiah interacts with him professionally and personally. This helps to make both characters relatable and have a deeper substance than just their romance together. Rochon does not shy away from tackling gender and racial bias but uses authentic emotion to flesh these topics out in the story.

Special thanks to NetGalley and Edelweiss for sharing the ARC COPY with me in exchange for my honest review

I just couldn't mesh with this author's style. The women were too perfect and the humor too forced. It didn't feel genuine to me.

These characters are just not it for me. I was not connected to them at all, they annoyed me throughout the book. They both kept saying how much they wanted to/should be focusing on their career/dream but they just couldn't pull theirself away from the other one.
Daniel kept feeling such guilt for lying and "betraying" Samiya and yet that's his job. He should know that subterfuge is a necessary part and shouldn't feel guilt OR if it's going to be too hard talk to his boss about getting her in on the hunt for the money launderers. It just felt way over the top for him to feel so bad about lying to her and "betraying her" when they only knew each other less than 3 months and it was all surrounding a very important sting.
