Re-read review:

This is a really good book. I don't really remember why I gave it 4 stars and not five (the review never got posted for some reason) but I think it had something to do with the fact that, at the time, while I did like the book, it didn't, and I quote, "wow me".

I disagee with my past self but I'm not going to contradict her. But I will say that this books gets 4.5 stars at least.

Now, the things I love about this book:

1. The character of Annie: She is a very interesting character. I love how we get to know two completely different sides of her personality, the timid hermit and the highly opinionated Socialmedialite. There is such a huge contrast between the two and yet they're the same person. And it shows too. I love the fact that Annie is so self-aware and (even though she can be a coward at time) brave. It a bit hard to explain really. But Annie is so real and she's such a good person.

2. Usually, in romance novels, when a girl messes up, the guy is just okay with it. He even grovels and begs her to let him forgive her(it's fucking annoying). I know why that's done; because the guy is supposed to be charaming and irresistable and a dream. Unfortunately, that often translated to the guy being a wimp and a push-over. I am very happy to say... that Ronan was not like that. That's all I'm goin to say because I don't want to risk spoilers.

3. The little tid-bits at the beginning of chapters. They were funny and a very nice addition.

4. This book is one of the rare few that has a proper and non-twisted/non-weird representation of BDSM. BDSM is not something that I like reading about and it wasn't there wasn't a large amount of it in this book, but whatever there was, I didn't mind it. I was happy with it and with the fact that it was represented in a healthy manner. There are people who could learn a thing or two from this *cough* E.L. James*cough*

Other than that, the writing was good, I very much enjoyed the story and all the characters and I'm hoping L.H. Cosway and Penny Reed will collaborate again to give us another brilliant book like this one.

Audiobook
Holy Steamy Glasses this book was smoldering with well done sexy moments. The narration was perfect, making this a double winner. Great story, with wonderful full developed characters, fun side characters, real conversations, intelligent characters who had common sense, bondage and empathy. I loved it but I thought I wouldn't.
It is no secret that I'm not a fan of bondage, or relationship romance reads. It usually makes me feel very turned off by how it is presented. This author treaded into the subject gently, with respect, and with full open communication. It was not the point where all circled around it was just the cherry cupcake for this couple. There was not belittling, verbal abuse or crudeness it was all presented beautifully.
I found all the right spots in this for me, a slow build up earned relationship, respect, honesty, intelligence and communication followed up with a great story. No, it did not hurt that there was a super sexy Irish rugby player front and center, Nope, it didn't hurt at all.

IYou want more, you can read the blurb on the book. Get the audio if you can, you'll be pleased.
This will be re-listen for me.

Just alright

This was just alright for me. I enjoy Penny Reid, but this wasn't here typical. It felt rushed. It felt a little unreal at times...but still entertaining.

It’s been such a long time since I last read a romance-genre book where I love both the male and female MCs. Ronan is such a charming guy and Annie is very real and relatable.

DID NOT FINISH: 25%

I had to DNF at 25% for so many reasons. I read this book because I have really enjoyed Penny Reid and was going back through her catalog but I fear I’ve gone too far because this…is not it. The MC comes off as a predator who outwardly to others is a nice guy? He’s clearly a creep both in his actions and in his POV chapters and I cannot trust him. That’s sociopath shit. There is clearly a power imbalance here. Even her boss saw she was uncomfortable and basically offered her up for the slaughter anyhow?? It’s blatant this was written nearly a decade ago.

Also if I got any email, especially a professional one, that is basically only emojis, I’d throw my computer. That’s insane.

I made it past the elevator scene which was close to making me quit (he knew he was making her severely uncomfortable by stopping the elevator and caging her in, she even SAID so and pushed him away). I almost made it through the board room scene (where he admits she wasn’t reciprocating his kiss but KEPT GOING) but the straw that really broke the camels back was him saying her not saying was a “waste of pretty skin.” Fucking puke. I cannot see how this man could redeem himself. She should’ve kicked him in the nuts 5 times by this point.

The banter between the characters was actually quite interesting, and engaging.

But, do you ever know when a book is so incredibly cliché that you momentarily recoil inside? There were so many moments like that here. And a bit of insta-love/ lust.

Our heroine is an vivacious introvert. In the chapters done in her perspective, she appeared so. BUT in the chapters done in Ronan’s perspective she appeared to be a shy, docile, confused person. Which she is. But as their relationship develops, his idea of her doesn’t really progress.

He continues to view her as some docile deer.

Her cussing, narration and sarcasm ARE A COMPLETE CONTRADICTION TO HOW SHE IS VIEWED THROUGH RONAN’s eyes. And it sucks cause she is a really awesome person.

That is all.
