Listened to the audio this time and It was fantastic. Loved the Irish accent.

DNF. Tried reading this and couldn’t accept sexual harassment/assault being brushed off so casually. Example 1: guy puts his hands up her shirt without consent.
Example 2: female encourages groping men if they are wearing spandex type pants/shorts.
There’s enough misogyny in the real world. I don’t need to read about it in romance novels, too.

Looks Like Opposites Really Do Attract

Super sweet, laugh out loud funny, nice and hot without being overwhelming... this book is all that AND the bag of chips (lol haven't heard that in a while).

Annie had me rooting for her through the entire book. I loved her undercover snark, and her social awkwardness was something I could relate to to a degree. The awesome thing is that not once did I have to yell at her for the choices she made (which is rare... and I know I'm not the only one who yells at/ talks to the characters in a good book... it's ok to admit you do ;) ) Dirty minded, potty mouthed, rugby playing Irish Adonis (complete with accent) aka Ronan made me salivate and blush at the same dog-gone time. I wonder where I can get one like him who likes their women plump... (hmm... haven't seen them in Walmart... must be out of stock... maybe I'll try Costco... hehehe)

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. I even lost sleep, it was so good. I'm hoping Lucy gets a book too. She's so vibrant. I'd love to see what she gets into in the Big Apple.

A well earned 5 stars.

I'm hovering between a 2.5 and a 3. I loved the first half and really liked both Annie and Ronan (after his initial douchiness in the elevator) but once they started sleeping together things went downhill. Not using a condom was just plain stupid at this point in their relationship and with Ronan's history with Brona in mind. The BDSM part came seemingly out of nowhere and is really not my thing so it spoiled my fun. I was tempted to DNF at 74 percent but decided to finish it. The conclusion was fine, but nothing special. I think it was one time too many for Annie to run away. I loved Lucy and Sean fascinated me, so I'll probably give book 2 a chance someday.

Sweet story, lovely characters, but with mood swings so random I almost got whiplash. Luckily, the plot was so charming I could forgive most of the "I love her, no wait, I've had enough of her bs, no wait, I love her, but hold on, she's pissed me off....."

2.5 stars... because I read it? I don't know, maybe I'll change to 2

There MAY be spoilers below, up to what you consider spoilers so proceed with caution.

My thoughts on this book:

The fmc joked that she thought she might have Tourette's because she curses a bunch of odd things when she's anxious ... ??

The mmc made a comment about having "ocd meal plans" because he likes to eat healthy to meet his physical health goals ... ??

Ronan's mom was described as "exotic," and even though she is definitely a white woman, it rubbed me the wrong way

The third act break up (I'm not sure I can even call it that) came at a really odd point in the pacing and seemed so forced? She started acting so out of character I hated it

The villain came out of nowhere and also seemed so random!

She called him a super sexy slave driver ... like no??

The pacing was so off... like one step forward, three steps back (@ Olivia Rodrigo)

Their communication was not it, it was hard to root for them when I knew something was gonna go wrong again in like one chapter 😭 how could they be going toward marriage if they can't even talk to each other about the blog 😭

The way she responded to the big reveal was so irritating, isn't she supposed to grow at all?

Overall, I did not really like this book. I just felt like the main characters were so unlikable and I wasn't very invented in their journey. It didn't seem like there was any consistent growth or tensions. The pacing was just weird, and the writing felt so forced, at times. 🤷‍♀️

Wow. This book. Where to begin? First, let's announce that this was a collaboration between L.H. Cosway and Penny Reid. I'm new to both authors and now a fan of both of them. I thought this was going to be a light, fun read that I could breeze through in a matter of a day or two, but I underestimated it. (Shame on me.) Instead, this story is rather complex and the emotional arc of both the hero, Ronan Fitzpatrick, and the heroine, Annie Catrel, is impressive. The story is a fake relationship trope. The attraction between Annie and Ronan are immediately obvious and that undercurrent makes the story that much richer. Both have trust issues. Ronan, a celebrity rugby player, has been used by his previous girlfriend who cheated on him with a teammate. Meanwhile, Annie has abandonment issues given that she was orphaned at the age of six and in out and of foster care and rejected by an adoptive family. (Geezus!) Watching her self-sabotage was painful at times but the lessons of trust that she learns makes it worth the read and makes her emotional vindication in the end that much more powerful as she learns to trust and value Ronan for who is, not this celebrity image. The sex is hot. This is a fine example of how consent between lovers is a beautiful thing, especially during bondage, dominance and submissive play. I wish all stories depicted such interaction with the same great care as Cosway and Reid did.
