This was such a haunting, beautiful, and spicy story! At 87 pages, it packs quite a punch in its small size.
A fantasy romance about an immortal who serves Death, falling in love with a man who’s doomed to die and set in historical Ireland…it was everything I wanted.
Both Eirann and Elin were compelling characters to follow and I really rooted for them to have their happy ending.
Overall, I really enjoyed this novella!

What a perfect historical romance novella! The author puts an incredible amount of character development in 95 pages, and there’s just the right amount of magic. You fall in love with Elin right alongside Eireanne, and I wanted to fight Death right alongside her to save Elin. Perfectly balanced seriousness with the hope of falling in love. This novella was just the antidote I needed for a long day at work.

“How far will you go to defy fate?”
“As far as it takes.”
This book. My heart.
This story is beautifully tragic, but there is hope. Always hope and love. It's all worth it for the happiest of ends.
Éireann carries a heavy burden. The job she must do causes grief and pain, but also there is a peace to it. Until she sees a man traveling on horseback alone, heading in her direction. She decides to fight fate. To fight for herself and find a future worth fighting for. A spark of hope she never thought she would see for herself.
Elin is finally free but lives in a prison of his own bodies making. He knows his fate but chooses to travel with the woman who asks if she can join along. Heading towards home together. What he finds is peace and comfort.
These two are just the most precious duo. They both have lived hard lives, and it is taking its toll. The way that they come together and fight for each other is beautiful. It’s the fight. It’s the hope. It’s the love. They break my heart and put it back together with a little forehead kiss and a big hug.
How all this emotion is packed into a novella? I have no idea. It flows incredibly and just absolutely works. Niccoli squeezed every last bit out of every single page, and nothing was wasted. I also loved the chronic illness and ulcerative colitis rep in this book. That is one that you don’t see too often. It was done very well and felt very meaningful.
In such a short amount of time, these characters ended up meaning more to me than I expected. They will stay with me forever.
“Falling in love is easy. But truly loving someone is hard.”
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow. Just wow. Follow Me to the Yew Tree is a novella that packs an emotional punch. How far would you go to defy fate for love?
Follow Me to the Yew Tree is so beautifully written. I really felt transported to another place and time. The relationship built between Éireann and Elin pulled at my heartstrings. Though it is short, it is both sweet and melancholic. I was drawn in so quickly and read it in one sitting. As someone who has chronic illness, I also really appreciated that we saw the truth of Elin’s ulcerative colitis, but Elin was also much more than his illness. When reading this, you can expect historical fiction in an atmospheric setting, folkloric elements, forced proximity, thoughtful chronic illness representation, and open door romance.
I received this as an ARC, and my review contains my honest thoughts and opinions.

I was given this book as an ARC and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a novella but the amount of information and emotion the author was able to put into 80 pages, amazing!

This was the perfect novella to start the new year! Desirée packed in so much beautiful writing into this novella. This historical romance will do well for fans of Addie LaRue mixed with Irish folklore. I loved reading the author’s note of the chronic illness representation in this book. I’m glad this was my introduction to this author’s work.
