Big, beautiful, kind-hearted Boomer. I've been looking forward to his story and I loved every moment of it, I only wish it could have been longer.

Boomer has been a secondary character for a long time and I've loved every time he's shown up on the page. So of course I've been eagerly anticipating his own story. Boomer is one of the biggest guys on the team, but aside from his physical stature, he's got one of the biggest hearts and sweetest personalities you will run across. He's a bleeding heart when it comes to helping someone in need, seriously...it is impossible to not like this guy, unless you are on some starvation diet then his large appetite may offend you, but aside from that, he's loyal, kind, and an animal lover to boot. The same question we all ask- how is this man still single- is the same one Daphne asks when she meets him, and that answer requires Boomer to receive lots of big hugs.

Daphne is a widow and a single mother to a twelve year daughter with a genius level IQ. It's Lou that befriends Boomer first and she's an amazing girl who fits right in with all the MT youth. It's that feeling of when you find your tribe, you instantly click. Daphne also feels right at home with the MT women and she hasn't had that in a long time, but falling for someone again is scary especially when she's still dealing with her in-laws from her first marriage.

This novella is lower suspense than some of the other books within the Masters and Mercenaries series, but for readers of this series it is filled with morsels of what's happened in the last book and what's to come up in the next. I know I'm eager with anticipation for not only the next book, but also for the next generation. Having Lou in this book gave Lexi a chance to really flush out the youth and what their potential will be, not that we didn't already know about some of them, like Ian's girls, but they are really taking shape.

I have not read any of these books and when I realized this was number 24.5 I was concerned I would be lost. But no, this story was fabulous and exciting! I did not miss anything but now I’m antsy to read the previous 24 books!
Daphne is a single mother of her daughter Lou’s. She has noticed the very hot male that lives next door to her but it isn’t until Lou calls her and says she was followed home from school and found a safe have in “Boomers” apartment that Daphne goes into mama bear mode. Racing to their apartment complex to find her daughter quite content with her manly neighbour.
Attraction happens, complicated by in law interference, throw in a unique and non traditional family of the Taggart’s and you have the makings of a spectacular story.
I will definitely go back to the beginning and read more of the Masters and Mercenaries series.

I know that Boomer's story will be one of my go to re-reads. Boomer was the best, and Lou was a very close second.

I enjoyed how the MTG kids embraced Lou. I liked Daphne. I felt for her because she felt trapped in her in-laws web. I really liked how both Daphne and Lou blossomed after meeting Boomer.

This book was sweet, steamy, and romantic. I thought there was also a dash of suspense at certain points in the book. The dialogue was witty and quite often humorous.

I love Ryan West's narration. I had a difficulty couple of days, and listening to this book made me feel so much better. I was able to let go of all my stress.

If I had one wish, it would be to get details on Amelia's reaction to what she set in motion.

This is a super sweet read in the Masters and Mercenaries world and was a change of pace for this series. Here we have the story of Boomer and his next door neighbor, Daphne. Boomer has always been attracted to and intrigued by Daphne, but their paths have never really crossed until one day when Daphne's daughter, Lou, needs some help and comes knocking on Boomer's door.

Despite the fact I'm normally not as into the sweet, cinnamon roll type heroes, I actually very much enjoyed this. We get to see Daphne and Boomer really spend time together and get to know each other and I loved the dynamic between not just them but also Boomer and Lou.

I LOVE Boomer! Boomer is not your average alpha book boyfriend. Sure he’s smokin’ but he feels less than because he is dyslexic and it takes him a little longer to learn things. He has a heart of gold and a curiosity for new things.
Daphne has come a long way in finding herself and raising her daughter. Lula is so smart Boomer could be intimidated but she is a little girl and he reminds her of that and encourages her to be more than her brain.
I loved this sweet and sexy story.

Overall Grade: 4.5 ⭐️

I want to tell you that Boomer and Daphne’s story in Lexi Blake’s Delighted is a revelation. It isn’t that it isn’t exciting and everything you love about Lexi Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries series. Even more, as a 1,001 Dark Nights, it’s a bite-sized bit of fun in this world. Make no mistake. I’m a HUGE fan of Brian “Boomer” Ward. In this book, there is talk about the simplicity of his character, or rather, his mind. However, for anyone who has been reading her Reloaded version of this world, there is nothing truly simple about Boomer. He is a devoted friend and oftentimes the levity in Blake’s stories.

In Delighted, he’s a savior for Daphne. Not in any way that undermines her own authority or sense of self. Instead, through his care of her daughter, Lou, Boomer’s heroism shines as he’s compassionate and caring for her and Lou, especially as Daphne is served up the ire of her former in-laws. Unlike the other Masters and Mercenaries stories, we aren’t dealing with a huge external threat. There is the promise of it, but the threat is easily managed. Instead, the tension of this book is Daphne’s need for control in a lifetime that has seemed out of control. Boomer is incredibly supportive, but she pushes him away at times out of the fear of losing control. This push and pull doesn’t last long because Boomer’s perseverance and respect for her boundaries regarding Lou win her over. All of this is lovely and makes for an engaging read

But the true “delight” of Delighted is Lou and the next-gen of the Masters and Mercenaries world. Blake mentions it in her Acknowledgments from the Author at the beginning of this book, but there is a promise of more stories from an engaging group of M&M youth. Lou is incredibly intelligent, having skipped two grades. And she’s different. This has not won over her schoolmates. When she meets the children of the Masters and Mercenaries, like her mother, and the stories prior to Delighted, she finds her found family. That message is strong in this book. It reminds you that, no matter your past or present experiences with your biological family, you can craft your own. We find Lou thriving as she has found her “home.” I finished Delighted with so much excitement and anticipation for future stories, and if you’re a dedicated Lexi Blake fan, I think you will too. Even if you’ve never read her stories, you can jump into Delighted today and find a family of characters.

I think I’ve waited for you for a long time.

I absolutely ADORED this book!! Boomer has been around for a very long time (since Book 7 - and this is book 24.5) and I wasn't sure if he would ever get a story as he seemed to be around for comic relief and for his skills as a sniper. But Lexi Blake turned this side character into an amazing leading man with depth and character and flaws and a real "cinnamon bun" hero ... so darn sweet and gooey. Add his love interest in Daphne - a single mum who is a baker (and anyone who has read this series knows how much Boomer loves his food) and whose daughter Lou is AMAZING!! I loved this book - like two days after I finished it I started the audio because I wasn't ready to let it go! And that EPILOGUE ... oh man... AMAZING!!!!

I love these characters! This book spent most of the time on the characters. It was light on the sex. That was fine because the reader ends up pulling for the characters.
