This book should come with a MASSIVE trigger warning.
The foundation of this story is someone contemplating taking their own life. It also talks about harming animals, particularly cats. I do not recommend this book to anyone who is easy triggered by these topics. I personally couldn't even make it halfway through this book without having to put it down.

This is exactly the right book for me to have read right now at this stage of my life.  The things that Phoebe realizes about herself, about how to be herself, are things I need to learn to recognize and do.  It feels weird to call a novel about a woman who goes to a hotel to kill herself and ends up embroiled in a week long wedding extravaganza of strangers and find it inspirational, but it is.  Somehow it is.

I really just didnt like the two main people. The bride was so annoying I couldnt get past her flaunting and bragging about the money shes spending on her wedding. Would not recommend feel like I wasted time reading this far

I wanted to hate this book. It was a hard start, so emotionally dark that I wasn't sure I could handle it. I couldn't handle it because it was real. It made me think things I have thought and felt. I usually read to escape not face my demons. But I pushed though and I was glad I took the journey. There were some pearls of wisdom I needed to hear. About self love and figuring out who you are inside. Some of the plot lines were predictable and uncomortable but so is life.

Delightfully unexpected dark comedy with a surprisingly enjoyable ambiguous ending. The tone was stylistically perfect for the protagonist and the entire story felt refreshingly honest. It certainly was not what I was expecting, but I’m glad to have read it.

I put this onto tbr after seeing two Fable book clubs I’m in reading it, then I started seeing a lot of raving reviews about it. After reading it I can say I don’t think it’s worth the hype, but I did still enjoy the book.

I’m usually not a big third person fan, but it really seemed to work with this and I can’t explain why. It was cool to see how each part of the wedding played out and Phoebe’s role within it and how it helped her grow in some way. You could really see the character development through her with each and every moment. My favorite character was definitely Juice - she had no filter in the best way and I was eating up anything she did or say. I loved how the ending was - was worried it would be a little corny but it felt very satisfying for me.

The way reviews were, I expected to be laughing out loud at some point, but it never came it was more dark humor at some parts. I feel like this book could’ve been a lot shorter. The beginning and part of the middle just felt to drag on and I was ready for the next part. Lila just became more and more insufferable, which I’m guessing was the point but anytime she was involved, I dreaded it.

Although I did like the book, don’t think I’ll go around recommending it, especially if I’m not aware of triggers since this does have lots of suicide/metal health involved. I will say, think this could be a pretty good movie.

Sorrow followed by great joy and delight. A fun and sweet book.
