This was very, very good. I loved the complexity of Layla and Elise’s relationship and the reimagining of the classical vampire. The ending confused me a lot though, but I hope the sequel will explain it

So like I finished it and it was fun and all the nuances of the queerness and race were refreshing but the ending was super disappointing somehow and It felt a little too ya at moments with the plot

I really liked the concept— black female characters , vampires, and all the dark, atmospheric vibes were totally up my alley. But the writing just didn’t hold up. It felt like it was trying to do too much without really pulling me in, and I found myself losing interest fast. Ended up DNF-ing it. Cool ideas, but the execution just wasn’t there for me.
