The first half of this was interesting. This was my first time reading the Jungle Book and all I knew about it was from the Disney adaption. I really enjoyed the first half of this book but the second half was meh. The first half followed the story many of us are familiar with, yes it was different to Disney's version but it always is haha. But the second half was like weird short stories? I say weird as to me there was no meaning to them it seemed like a way to just make the book longer.

Out of all of the stories in this book, Mowgli's is definitely the most memorable one. It is refreshingly earnest in comparison to the Disney movie, which is absurdly goofy in comparison. This book takes itself very seriously, like a proper children's book should. It's also considerably more violent and considering I'm reading Stalky & Co at the same time, it makes me even more weary of pre-pubescent little boys and their thirst for violence.
medium-paced
I don't really understand why after Mowgli's story ends it keeps going... I didn't hate it though
