Feisty by Julia Kent

Feisty contains laughter, friendship and ultimately a great love story, this book in the series does contain some heavy issues that are very pertinent in our headlines today.

Fiona "Feisty" works at a preschool and right at the beginning of the story an angry father shows up with a gun. While no one is seriously injured, thankfully, Chris "Fletch" appears on the scene, as one of the paramedics to the rescue. Feisty isn't exactly happy to see Fletch again, as she dropped kicked him back in the 7th grade when he tried to kiss her. Her embarrassment over the nickname he gave her has stuck like glue ever since and she's done a lot of avoiding him because of it.

This leads to our next heavy topic, that I believe Julia covered extremely well, the issue of when no means no at any age. It's been years since Fiona and Chris have spent any sort of time together, mostly because she has been avoiding him like the plague, but the universe now has other plans and keeps putting them together, this finally brings them to the long overdue discussion of first an apology and second boundaries. This part is very well written and still keeps the story moving along.

Even with heavy topics throughout the book, Feisty clips along at a quick pace, the chemistry between them is strong, but it is a very slow burn.

This is the third book in the Do-Over series, but can be read as a standalone.

When I need to laugh, Julia Kent is one of my go to listens. I know she will bring a smile to my face and warm my heart. This third book in the Do Over series certainly meets the bill for both with laugh out loud moments and heartfelt romance. We have Fiona, aka “Feisty” and Chris. These two have a history and it’s not all love and roses. These two have been sparring for years. Fiona is a pre k teacher and it shows just how tough she can be. But is she tough enough? Chris has a lot to make up for and this slow burn gives him the time he needs to decide what to do. And with friends like these two have, we get glimpses of love and laughter along with fantastic friendships. Kent takes us along for their ride, let’s us enjoy the ups and downs, laugh and love.

Erin Mallon is always amazing but I especially love her when she reads romcoms. She has perfect comedic timing and her voices spot on. And from book to book she keeps her characters consistent. I her every time!

If I could, I would go to Julia Kent's house and kidnap her for my own. I need her crazy shenanigan infused mind as a bedtime storyteller. Think less Misery and more like the Disney version of 1001 Arabian Nights. (Okay it still sounds torturous but trust me its more innocent...perhaps Darla would understand it better!)

Let's try this again minus the creepy.

Julia Kent makes me laugh. She makes me cry (usually from laughing so hard). She makes me fall in love- both with her characters and the wildly entertaining situations they find themselves in. Feisty (and the entirw Do Over Series) is a perfect example. Crazy and yet plausible situations that you would hope to never be the punchline in abound in this series. Add in the second chance aspect and this sucker for an HEA is already half in love.

Laugh, cry, and try not to get arrested. Also I highly advise practicing your Amazonian warrior roar in open spaces.

Accidentally went out of order but fell in love with this book.

Feisty was something that I needed today. Fiona is my spirit animal because hot damn - that girl was feisty. Also, she was a boss ass bitch. Then there's Chris, who is someone that she has known since they were kids. He always had a nickname for her.. so we already knew that they were each other's school crush.

Let's be real, I loved them. It was beyond easy shipping them together.. especially with what they went through throughout this book. I laughed so much during some scenes and then had my creepy in love smile plastered on as well.

They gave me life and I am so excited to dive into book 2 and the novella. I need more and I have zero regrets about diving into book 3 on accident.

Kent has done it again! Feisty is another must-read! I loved it soooo sooo much! Feisty is a standalone book, but it's also book 3 in Kent's Do-Over series of standalones! I highly recommend you read the other books because you don't want to pass up this crazy group of friends! I've Loved Fiona since the first book, She has a hate thing for Fletch and you can just feel all the steam coming from them! I knew they were going to be my favorite couple and Kent blew me away! I love this book the most! Feisty and Fletch have a history and lots of pent up anger on Fiona's part. We all know the line between hate and love is thin and theirs is quickly getting thinner! I Loved these two characters so hard! They are hilarious and test each other at every turn! Fiesty was emotional, heartwarming and Fluffing Hillarious! I have laughed so hard at this book, all the innuendos and cheesiness is so refreshing! I'm still cracking up over the "..ten cows worth" and "..relationship staus: nemesis".This is really a feel-good read, it's one you fall in love with and never want to but down. We get the other girls and their guys, no time has passed because the book picks up right where the other left off, just with a different couple. I really loved that ending and I'm looking forward to another book, hopefully, Hasty's. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Feisty by Julia Kent is a romantic comedy that I listened to on audio narrated by Erin Mallon. This is the third book in The Do-Over Series but each book can be read as a standalone. However, I would recommend reading in order since it does reference characters from the previous books.

Julia does an amazing job making the characters very relatable. You just can’t help but fall in love with Chris (Fletcher) and Fiona (Feisty).

Erin did an amazing job on the narration. I love that she uses different voices/tones for each character it really brings the story to life.

I would highly recommend this series to anyone who loves romantic comedies or enemies to lover’s romance.

I loved this story!

I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series, but this one is definitely my favorite. I LOVE the accuracy of the children’s speech patterns, arguments, and distract-ability, I loved Fiona kicking butt. I loved Chris finally getting through to her. And the cabin scene! And the apartment scene when Matty and Candi walk in. I just loved this whole story.

I’m not sure this book works as a stand-alone. I thought it was a novella to start a series when I checked it out. The characters are likable the main point of tension between the couple is ridiculous. There were several contradicting issues throughout the book. Her main issue with the hero is that he gave her the nickname feisty in the seventh grade when she beat him up after he tried to kiss her. But then she also reminisces about spending her youth with a shaved head taking kickboxing lessons and wearing doc martins. That seems at odds with someone who could hold a 20 year grudge for a nickname that it seems was more than embraced. Also there was a lot of new age energy talk that didn’t seem to fit with the character or the story line. Again maybe these things would have made more sense if I had read in order. So maybe as part of a series it’s okay but as a standalone, pass.

Loved this book. The relationship between Fiona and Chris was a slow burn. It just worked. There were serious parts to the story as well as humor I've come to expect from Ms. Kent's books. It was a very good addition to the series.

I also loved the little teaser at the end to hopefully a 4th book.
