This was interesting and insightful; I learned quite a bit about Korean culture, and found her adjustments to American life engaging.

I'm not a fan of memoirs, but this one had been getting some buzz so I gave it a whirl and found myself pleasantly surprised. I can't speak to how true to life these characters are, but they all feel like actual people, not sanitized or charicaturized versions. On top of that, the art is absolutely top notch. It's not only beautiful to look at, but it nails its hybrid eastern/western comics style. Typically the coloring is what falls flat for solo graphic novel ventures, but Ha has a deft hand for it. Definitely recommended.

This was pretty good Robin has grown a lot as a person all from experiences no matter how good or bad. She showed us that life is most definitely hard but in the end what you get from working hard is amazing.

I thought this book was excellent. I found it to be a heartbreaking story that accentuated the difficulties of moving and trying to fit in in a new environment not to mention a new country. Through the obvious racism the main character, Chuna (also Robin) faces it is clear that she will struggle to fit in and because her first language is Korean and not English this becomes infinitely harder. This story is about finding yourself even through the hardships, and I feel that this story really came full circle teaching readers that there’s always a place in the world even if it is not obvious.
